Data updated

Which should you buy?

Choose the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 if you want the most dependable wet-cornering confidence, lower noise, better efficiency and significantly longer tread life-especially for mixed weather, higher-mileage driving, or heavier vehicles/SUV fitments. Choose the Giti GitiSport S2 plus if your priority is maximum braking performance-per-dollar in common 245/45 R19-type fitments and you're willing to accept more variability in wet-limit behavior and a shorter projected lifespan.

Where the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is stronger

  • More consistent high overall rankings: 2nd/20 in AutoBild and 4th/9 in the SUV test, indicating broader capability across categories
  • Wet safety and lateral control advantages: much shorter SUV wet braking (53.4 m vs 60.1 m) plus better wet handling (87.8 vs 83.8 km/h) and wet circle performance
  • Ownership/efficiency strengths: lower rolling resistance (7.24 vs 7.68 kg/t; 8.33 vs 8.99 kg/t) and class-leading projected wear in AutoBild (63,830 km)

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 118 ft stop against 112 ft is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. 9 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Averages of the figures both tires posted in the same tests. The gap is the average of each test's own gap, so figures from different cars and years are never mixed. Open a discipline for its measurements, and a measurement for every test's figure.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6

  • 86%from 228 reviews
  • 83%would buy again
  • 1,941,005 milesdriven by reviewers

Owners rate the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 highly overall (84.8% average), most consistently praising its strong dry and wet grip, with many also noting reassuring handling. Around half of reviewers who mention it say it's noticeably quieter than what they replaced, and comfort is commonly described as a step up for a UHP tire. Longevity is the main talking point: tread life feedback is genuinely split, with a similar number reporting strong mileage as those seeing faster wear. A smaller but recurring complaint is a softer, less supported feel (and occasional extra noise on coarse surfaces) for drivers wanting a firmer, more precise response.

  • Excellent dry grip with lots of confidence
  • Very strong wet grip for a summer UHP tire
  • Lower road noise than many rivals and OEM fitments
  • Comfortable ride for everyday use
  • Tread life is inconsistent: some see great mileage, others rapid wear
  • Can be noisy on rough or coarse asphalt for a noticeable minority
  • Soft sidewall feel can reduce precision and make responses feel less supported

Firstly I'd like to correct/add to something I said in a review about the Mich PS4 where I mentioned the Asy 6s didn't seem to be doing much better. It seems the last bit of tread in the Asy 6s last much longer!, going from 3mm @12.6k to 1.7mm (a bit close!) @21k, so they last much longer than the PS4 tires on the rear! (The PS4 tires only lasted 13.2k miles!!).

Reading the results

Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.

Giti's GitiSport S2 plus and Goodyear's Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 sit in the same “max-performance summer” bracket on paper, but the shared test data shows they achieve performance in very different ways. Across three professional comparisons (including a large AutoBild group test and an SUV-focused 255/45 R19 test), Goodyear comes across as the more complete, premium-style all-rounder-especially when you factor in comfort, efficiency and wear.

The interesting twist is that Giti isn't simply “the cheaper, worse option.” In the 245/45 R19 braking-focused testing, the GitiSport S2 plus repeatedly posts very competitive stopping distances, even edging the Goodyear by small margins in both dry and wet braking. The real separation happens once you look beyond straight-line braking into wet cornering stability, aquaplaning behavior, refinement and long-run ownership costs-areas where the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 builds a clearer advantage.

Conclusion

Taken across the three shared tests, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is the safer and more rounded choice for most drivers. It consistently ranks higher overall (4th/9 in the SUV test and 2nd/20 in AutoBild), brings strong wet dynamics (e.g., SUV test wet braking 53.4 m vs 60.1 m for Giti-an ~11% gap), quieter running (67.0 dB vs 71.7 dB in the SUV test), and notably better efficiency (rolling resistance 7.24 vs 7.68 kg/t; 8.33 vs 8.99 kg/t). Add in the huge wear advantage in AutoBild (63,830 km vs 50,020 km, +27.6%), and its “premium” positioning is justified in real ownership terms.

The Giti GitiSport S2 plus is best understood as a value-driven performance tire that can deliver impressive braking for the money in certain conditions and sizes-AutoBild and the 52-tire braking test both show it slightly ahead in dry braking (34.3 m vs 34.5 m) and also narrowly ahead in wet braking in those datasets (e.g., 27.2 m vs 27.5 m). However, results are more size/test dependent, and the SUV test highlights the risk: earlier loss of grip in the wet, limited reserves, and a large wet braking deficit. The practical takeaway is simple: if you want consistent wet-cornering confidence, lower noise, lower energy use, and longer tread life, the Goodyear is the better bet; if your priority is maximum performance-per-dollar and your driving is less demanding in heavy rain, the Giti can be a compelling alternative-but it's less universally reassuring.

Where this data comes from

Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tires ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.

About the TR Score

The Tire Reviews Score rates each tire out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tires can be compared even before a test has run them together.

Who does the testing

Every test published as a Tire Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tires independently since 2007.
