Which should you buy?
Choose the Hankook Ventus S1 evo Z K129 if you prioritize wet stopping power, aquaplaning security, lower noise and better efficiency/value-especially for fast road driving in changeable weather. Choose the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport if your priority is steering feel, subjective confidence and comfort in a known-good fitment, and you're willing to trade off fuel efficiency and accept that wet braking can be merely mid-pack in some tests.
Where the Eagle F1 SuperSport is stronger
- Stronger steering feel and subjective handling satisfaction when the setup suits it (e.g., 8.25 vs 7.75 subjective dry; 8.0 vs 7.75 subjective wet in the 2026 performance test)
- Competitive lap-style handling results in some tests (wins dry handling 2/4 and wet handling in the 2026 performance test: 102.7 s vs 105.19 s)

Where the Ventus S1 Evo Z K129 is stronger
- More consistent wet-safety performance, especially wet braking (wins 3/4; up to ~10.7-12.4% shorter wet stops in 2026 Autobild and the 2024 sports car test)
- Stronger efficiency and lower rolling resistance in every shared test (e.g., 8.29 vs 10.31 kg/t in Autobild 2026; 8.55 vs 9.76 kg/t in 2024)
- Frequent aquaplaning wins and good high-speed wet stability (wins straight aquaplaning in 3/4 tests; plus curved aquaplaning win in Sport Auto 2022)

Wins count every measurement the shared tests recorded for both tires; a tick marks the tire ahead on that line. Subjective driver scores count as wins but are never averaged, because each test uses its own scale.
Head to head in 4 tests, 2022 to 2026
Each row is one published test in which both tires ran on the same car, in the same size, on the same day. The line is the whole field, winner on the left.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 118 ft stop against 112 ft is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 95%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 6 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport
- 84%from 66 reviews
- 81%would buy again
- 470,802 milesdriven by reviewers
Most owners agree the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport delivers outstanding dry grip and confidence, backed up by sharp steering response and strong dry handling, with many also praising its stability when driven hard. Wet grip is generally rated good for a UUHP tire, though around one in ten owners specifically criticise wet handling, and a similar share note it can struggle in colder conditions. Comfort is the main compromise: close to three in ten owners find it too firm or unsettled over bumps. Tread life is more mixed, with a meaningful minority reporting rapid wear (especially on higher-torque use) while others see impressive longevity for the category.
- Exceptional dry grip, even when driven hard
- Precise steering response and strong feedback
- Very capable dry handling and cornering confidence
- Good wet grip for a UUHP summer tire
- Firm, busy ride that can feel harsh over bumps
- Tread life is inconsistent, with some reporting fast wear
- Poor cold-weather grip; not a winter-friendly choice

All 66 Eagle F1 SuperSport reviewsThe Goodyear SuperSport tires deliver immediate feedback and precise handling. The best part is how they completely changed the behavior of my S3 3‑door: it used to push from the nose, but with these tires the front end finally bites and the rear becomes playful.
The car is so much more fun to drive now.
They’re also almost indestructible, especially compared to Pirelli and Michelin (which have their own strengths, but durability isn’t one of them).
I really enjoyed these tires and would absolutely buy them again — unless Goodyear releases a new SuperSport.
Thanks, Goodyear. Great work.
Hankook Ventus S1 Evo Z K129
- 81%from 5 reviews
- 80%would buy again
- 41,000 milesdriven by reviewers
Dry grip and handling are the clearest owner strengths of the Hankook Ventus S1 Evo Z K129, each praised by three people across five reviews. Four reviews are positive and one neutral, with an 81% average score. The repeated drawback is tread life, criticised by two owners after mid-life or end-of-life use, although another regards wear as similar to previous sports tires. Wet-weather comments are generally favorable but less enthusiastic than those on dry roads. One owner reports poor cold grip, an individual experience rather than a shared pattern, and all reviews concern tires already in use rather than new-tire impressions.
- Strong dry grip
- Good dry handling
- Short tread life reported by two owners

All 5 Ventus S1 Evo Z K129 reviewsGreat grip and feeling in the dry, decent grip in the wet, absolutely no grip when it's cold but that's expected.
The wear is not great, they don't last much but until they do, they are fun.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
This is a head-to-head between two max-performance summer tires that target fast-road grip but with different “personalities” in testing: the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport often leans into steering feel and driver confidence, while the Hankook Ventus S1 evo Z K129 more consistently posts strong objective safety-and-running-cost numbers (especially in wet braking and rolling resistance).
Across four shared comparative tests (235/35 R19, 255/35 R19, and 295/30 R20 fitments), the Hankook finishes ahead more often overall (including a 2nd vs 3rd in Sport Auto 2022), but the Goodyear has moments where it feels like the more enthusiast-oriented tool-particularly in dry handling/subjective scores in the Tire Reviews-style 2026 performance test. The interesting twist is that results swing with fitment and test format, so the “better tire” depends heavily on whether you prioritize wet stopping, efficiency and noise, or steering fidelity and subjective control at the limit.
Conclusion
On balance, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo Z K129 is the more consistently convincing all-rounder in these shared results: it wins 3 of 4 overall comparisons and dominates the measurable day-to-day metrics-rolling resistance (4/4 tests), noise (3/4), and wet braking (3/4). The size of the wet-braking gap is sometimes meaningful rather than marginal: in Autobild 2026 it stops in 46.0 m vs the Goodyear's 51.5 m from 100 km/h (~10.7% shorter), and in the 2024 sports car test it's 50.2 m vs 57.3 m (~12.4% shorter). Add frequent aquaplaning wins and typically better efficiency, and the Hankook makes a strong case for high-speed wet motorway safety and lower running costs.
The Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport's best argument is “how it drives” when the pairing is right. In the 2026 performance summer test it's quicker in wet handling (102.7 s vs 105.19 s) and dry handling (78.66 s vs 79.15 s) with stronger subjective scores (dry: 8.25 vs 7.75; wet: 8.0 vs 7.75), and it's repeatedly described as unusually comfortable for a tire in this class. However, it's also repeatedly flagged for high rolling resistance and, in some tests/sizes, disappointing wet braking and even balance issues-Autobild 2026 in particular paints a worst-case scenario (last overall) that's noted as likely a fitment mismatch rather than a universal verdict.
Practical takeaway: if you want the safer, quieter, more efficient choice that most often delivers in objective wet metrics, pick the Hankook. If you value steering feel, subjective confidence and comfort and you're buying in a fitment where it has a good reputation/track record, the Goodyear can still be a rewarding enthusiast tire-but it's harder to recommend blind because the downside (especially efficiency and occasional wet stopping gaps) can be significant.
