Data updated
Which should you buy?
Pick the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 if you want the more consistently high overall performance across dry, wet and winter tests, and you value predictable balance and stronger snow braking and traction. Pick the Nokian Seasonproof 2 if your main concern is standing water and wet handling pace, and you can accept that dry behavior and winter strength vary more by test and size.
Where the AllSeasonContact 2 is stronger
- Consistently strong dry handling, winning or near-winning in Auto Bild 2026, AMS 2026, Auto Zeitung 2026, Auto Express 2026 and Tire Reviews 2026/27.
- More dependable winter safety in the shared tests, especially snow braking and traction, for example leading both clearly in Auto Bild Allrad 2026 and ADAC 2026.
- Better longevity when measured, with higher projected wear mileage and lower abrasion than the Nokian in Auto Zeitung 2026 and ADAC 2026, and higher wear mileage in Auto Bild 2026.
Where the Seasonproof 2 is stronger
- Class-leading resistance to aquaplaning, winning straight aquaplaning in every shared test and often leading curved aquaplaning as well, for example AMS 2026 and Auto Bild 2026.
- Often very quick for wet handling pace, taking wet handling and wet circle wins in Auto Bild 2026 and Auto Bild Allrad 2026, and winning wet handling in Tire Reviews 2026/27.
- Can combine strong deep-water performance with respectable efficiency in some sizes, such as low rolling resistance in Auto Bild 2026 and the lowest rolling resistance noted in Auto Zeitung 2026.
The bullet points are analysis of the shared tests and of owner reviews; the measured wins in each discipline are in the tables below. Where the two disagree, the figures are right.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.
Scores beyond the shared tests

- 82%would buy again
- 667,287 milesdriven by reviewers
Owners rate the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 highly overall (81% average), most often praising its smooth, comfortable ride and low noise levels, alongside very strong wet grip that inspires confidence. Dry grip is also widely viewed as secure and predictable, and around one in five owners report it coping well in snow for an all-season. - Noticeably smoother, more comfortable ride
- Low cabin noise and a refined drive
- Excellent wet grip and confidence in the rain
- Strong dry grip and traction under acceleration
- Steering feels soft or delayed, with a dead spot for some drivers
- Tread life reports are inconsistent, with some seeing faster wear
- Handling can feel less sharp than expected in the dry

All 70 AllSeasonContact 2 reviewsI chose XL-rated tires because I tend to drive a bit faster, and they provide better stability with less sidewall flex. I use them only during the winter, and they've been excellent. They are no noisier than winter tires, and in my experience they perform better in about 90% of winter conditions. The only exception is deep snow, where proper winter tires still have an advantage, although these tires handle it quite well too.
Nokian Seasonproof 2
- 80%from 21 reviews
- 76%would buy again
- 80,950 milesdriven by reviewers
Owners generally rate the Nokian Seasonproof 2 highly, most often praising its strong wet grip and reassuring all-round safety, alongside a quiet, comfortable ride. Snow traction is also frequently highlighted as impressively winter-like for an all-season tire, with dry-road grip getting positive mentions too. A meaningful minority report mixed feelings about steering precision and stability at higher speeds, and around one in five owners mention fuel economy/rolling resistance not being as good as hoped.
- Strong wet grip and confidence in rain
- Low road noise (quiet motorway and around town)
- Comfortable, compliant ride quality
- Very capable traction in snow for an all-season tire
- Steering feel can be a bit vague or not very direct
- Mixed stability at higher speeds (some report nervousness)
- Fuel economy/rolling resistance can be disappointing

All 21 Seasonproof 2 reviewsAfter installing the Seasonproof 1 and being happy with it, I decided to put on the Seasonproof 2 and it has improved a lot... good performance in water, they provide safety and are very comfortable... they are not sports tires, but in water they provide safety... I don't know how they perform in snow... silent just like the Seasonproof 1... happy ☺ so far good wear.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
These two all-season tires have been compared directly in 10 independent group tests: Motor 2025, plus 2026 tests from Auto Bild (all-season and the 30-tire braking test), Auto Bild Allrad, AMS, Auto Zeitung, Auto Express, ADAC, Die Reifentester and Tire Reviews.
Across those shared tests the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 finishes higher overall far more often, taking the win in AMS 2026 and ADAC 2026 and placing near the top in Auto Bild Allrad 2026 and Auto Zeitung 2026. The Nokian Seasonproof 2's headline is different, it repeatedly tops the aquaplaning metrics and often looks strongest for wet handling feel and pace, but its overall results swing more depending on size and on how much the test weights snow and dry performance.
In short, Continental is the safer all-rounder across surfaces, while Nokian is the deep-water and wet-pace specialist, with some notable weak spots in dry and winter depending on the test.
Conclusion
Looked at as a set, these tests paint a very consistent picture of what each tire is trying to be. The Continental AllSeasonContact 2 is the more rounded tire and that shows in the overall placings, it beats the Nokian in 8 of the 10 shared tests, including big, safety-weighted comparisons like ADAC's 2026 185/65 R15 test and AMS's 2026 195/55 R16 test. Where the Continental tends to build points is in dry handling and in winter metrics. It is repeatedly quicker in dry handling, for example in Auto Bild 2026, Auto Express 2026 and Tire Reviews' 2026/27 test, and it is very regularly ahead for snow braking and snow traction, with clear margins in Auto Bild Allrad 2026 and ADAC 2026. It also tends to come out better on longevity measures when they are included, such as wear in Auto Zeitung 2026 and ADAC 2026.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2's strongest repeated advantage is aquaplaning resistance. It is ahead in straight-line aquaplaning in every shared test that measured it, and often by a meaningful margin, for example around 10% in Auto Express 2026 and Motor 2025, and it is also typically stronger in curved aquaplaning, such as AMS 2026 and Auto Bild 2026. It can also be very quick in wet handling layouts, taking wet handling and wet circle wins in Auto Bild 2026 and Auto Bild Allrad 2026, and winning wet handling in Tire Reviews' 2026/27 test.
The trade-off is that the Nokian's behavior is less consistent across the whole brief. Several publications note weaker dry performance, and Tire Reviews' 2026/27 test goes further, calling out slow steering response and unstable front-to-rear behavior in that size, despite the tire being fastest for wet handling there. Winter performance is also mixed: AMS 2026 found it one of the better snow performers for handling and traction, but Auto Bild Allrad 2026, Auto Zeitung 2026, ADAC 2026 and Die Reifentester 2026 all report comparatively weak snow results. If you want one tire that is rarely the wrong answer across dry, wet and winter, the Continental comes through more reliably. If your priority is standing-water safety and wet pace, and you can accept more variability in dry feel and winter balance depending on size and car, the Nokian makes a clear case.

Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tires ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tire Reviews Score rates each tire out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tires can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tire Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tires independently since 2007.
