Continental AllSeasonContact 2 vs Nexen N Blue 4Season 2

This head-to-head pitches Continental's premium all-season benchmark, the AllSeasonContact 2, against the value-driven Nexen N'Blue 4Season 2 across five shared tests from ADAC, Auto Bild and large market overviews. The data spans dry, wet, snow/ice, aquaplaning, efficiency and longevity, giving a clear picture of real-world balance versus budget appeal.

Across multiple sizes, Continental consistently ranks near the top (including 1/12, 2/16, 2/18, 3/37), while Nexen sits mid-pack (8/12, 11/16, 12/18, 16/37). The pattern is clear: Nexen often stops slightly shorter in dry, but Continental dominates where safety margins matter most-wet braking and aquaplaning-while also delivering a stronger all-round winter showing and robust efficiency/wear characteristics.

Best Review for the Continental AllSeasonContact 2
Given 88% 225/40 R18 on a combination of roads for 50 spirited miles
Compared to my previous premium summer tires, the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 is incredibly quiet and has fantastic grip. I am driving a plug-in hybrid Audi A3, and it became basically silent in fully electric mode. I always had wheelspin when I accelerated a little harder, because of the instant torque of the electric motor. What fascinates me is that this happened with both Bridgestone and Vredestein summer tires in warm, dry weather conditions. This is no longer the case with the ASC2. The rolling resistance also feels much better, the car coasts so effortlessly. Power consumption... Continue reading this review using the link below

Conclusion

Continental AllSeasonContact 2 is the more complete tire: class-leading wet grip with ~7-13% shorter wet braking across tests, superior aquaplaning resistance, and broadly stronger snow performance, translating into higher overall safety and confidence in mixed climates. It also pairs low rolling resistance with low abrasion and competitive mileage, frequently topping the rankings.

Nexen N'Blue 4Season 2 makes its case on price, short dry stops, comfortable manners and standout ice braking in ADAC. However, weaker wet/aquaplaning reserves and generally lower placements limit its versatility. If you prioritise best-in-class safety in rain and balanced year-round control, pick Continental. If budget is tight and you mainly drive in mild, dry-to-cold conditions with occasional snow/ice, Nexen can be a sensible, cost-effective choice.
Key Differences
  • Wet braking: Continental shorter by ~7-13% in multiple tests; key safety margin in rain
  • Aquaplaning: Continental notably stronger straight and curved; Nexen shows weaknesses
  • Snow performance: Continental generally ahead on traction/handling; Nexen competitive, excels on ice in ADAC
  • Dry braking: Nexen frequently stops slightly shorter; Continental provides better dry handling feedback
  • Efficiency: Continental lower rolling resistance and abrasion; Nexen slightly lower fuel in one ADAC size but higher RR elsewhere
  • Value proposition: Nexen cheaper upfront; Continental offers better overall performance-to-risk balance and longevity

Footnote

This page has been developed using tire industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tires in the same test.

Why is this important? Tire testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tire test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tire tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tire Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tire comparison, Tire Reviews doesn't.
