Toyota Hilux Surf (1KZ TE) Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Nokian Line SUV given 60% (265-70-16-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 40000 easy going miles
Initially OK, but after approx 40,000 easy motorway miles over 5 years, the tires are splitting between the circumferential grooves and have failed inspection, despite still having 3 to 4mm of thread remaining.

Driving on mostly town for 15000 average miles
Had these on my Surf a while now, but can't fault the tire. Good grip in dry, wet, snow, off road.
Never got stuck whilst towing caravan across muddy or wet fields. Did a day green laning through forest, water, rocks etc and not once lost traction and needed rescuing by my colleagues who were running aggressive off road tires.
Very little road noise from them and wear is above average. Would certainly buy for my other vehicle but not available in the size I want now.
Overall a very capable tire for the application.

Writing about the Goodyear Wrangler AT SA given 94% (265-65-17-S)
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 spirited miles
Out of the available choices, Goodyear wrangler AT/SA is the best tire, have switched to this recently from Yokohama Geolandar AT-S, but found them even better both on-road/ off-road. Have driven them on some extraordinarily slippery (snow covered) terrain at around 2300m altitude and they performed exceptionally great giving traction almost everywhere/ anywhere. Just put on these tires and be safe & confident whatever the utility is.
