Drawn from 10 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.
The Yokohama W drive V905 is often praised for snow traction and dry-road grip, but wet grip, wear and efficiency weaken its record. ADAC placed it second of 19 in 2015, then 11th of 13 in 2016 and eighth of 16 in 2017; the latter two criticised wet performance and high wear. The 2017 Auto Bild test put projected life at 32,625 km, 17th of 20, and rolling resistance 19th of 21. Its low-fuel-consumption praise from ADAC in 2014 is an unusual contrast to these later efficiency criticisms. That year's wet verdict was also mixed, praising wet-road ability while listing a slight wet weakness.
Snow results are not uniformly strong. Sport Auto in 2017 found snow braking second of ten and snow handling third, awarding Conditionally Recommended, but Auto Bild that year placed them 14th of 21 and 16th of 20 respectively. Auto Bild's praise for short snow stops is unusually favorable beside that braking result. Wet handling earned praise from both, although their measured positions were sixth of ten and tenth of 21. Auto Bild also found straight aquaplaning resistance last of 21, noise 18th and poor comfort. Sport Auto criticised noise and slow dry steering, with dry handling eighth of ten. Snow traction and dry grip therefore offer more consistent reassurance than all-round winter performance.
