The Kumho WinterCraft Ice finishes last. The pattern was updated a few years ago but that appears to apply to only a limited number of sizes, and in this test size it combines low stud protrusion with the hardest compound in the field, which is a poor recipe for a studded tire. It is competent on dry asphalt and cheap to run, but a studded tire is bought for ice, and here it cannot deliver.

Hi everyone. I don't understand why everyone keeps talking about noise. If the Kumho WI32 comes with factory-installed studs, it doesn't make any noise at all. Show more Hi everyone.
I don't understand why everyone keeps talking about noise. If the Kumho WI32 comes with factory-installed studs, it doesn't make any noise at all. I drove on them for a whole season; they are excellent, quiet tires. The photo actually shows the WI31 model. Now, the Kumho WI31 is an incredibly loud tire. When the WI32 first came out, it used standard round studs and was indeed loud, but since 2024, it has been fitted with small factory studs-similar to the ones Michelin uses.
This tire is on par with the Hankook W429, but quieter. I highly recommend these tires to everyone. I own a tire center, so I know what I'm talking about! Choose the version with the small studs, and you'll be happy. Show less

Good tires if you can accept the noice level. If you have otherwise a quiet car, you will definetly hear these and they will annoy you every time you drive. These has been the loudest stud tires I have ever tried and could not live with the noice so needed to switch to other brand in mid season.
