Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

The Cooper Discoverer Stronghold A/T is the enthusiast's choice. It delivers the sharpest steering, the best off-road composure, and the strongest subjective snow performance according to Tire Rack's testing. That robust sidewall inspires confidence for harder off-road use. The trade-off is on-road refinement: it is the firmest of the three and carries noticeably more tread pattern noise, which could be a drawback for daily highway commuting. For the driver who wants to push their truck hard off-road and values precision over plushness, the Stronghold earns a strong recommendation.

Given 86% while driving a Ford F 150 (275/85 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
Haven't had these for long, but have taken them on a wide variety of surfaces. So far very pleased with them and look forward to see how well they perform in winter conditions. I was looking for a good all around LT AT tire that wouldn't fall flat in inclement weather, I think these fit that well.

Given 97% while driving a Dodge ram 1500 (285/75 R18) on a combination of roads for 200 average miles
So far with limited use on a Ram 1500 pickup the Stronghold has been outstanding. Cannot wait to get it out in the snow hunting. I’m going to buy a set for my Ford F150 when its tires need replaced. Cooper Tires are fantastic USA made.
