Expensive to buy and that is the main reason I will opt for something else but other than the price, these are a good all round touring tire. Relatively quiet and comfortable, good quality build and reasuring in both wet and dry conditions. Only gripes is that they do tend to tramline under enthusiastic acceleration and the wear rate is average at best My pair got chopped early due to one of them picking up a puncture at 4mm.

Given 60% while driving a Skoda Fabia 1.4TDi (195/55 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 13,000 easy going miles
These were fitted to car when new. I have only driven 13,000 and the front tires need replacing, the worst tires for wear I have ever had. They are good in the dry and OK in the wet, seem quiet. Apart from wear the other main problem is tramlining. They are expensive to buy esp in this size 195/55/15H, will try Uniroyale Rayalle 550 next, the Rainsports are not available in this size.

Given 50% while driving a Mercedes Benz c 220 cdi (225/50 R16) on a combination of roads for 14,500 easy going miles
Horrendous wear rate. At 14500 miles, down to 3mm. Worst wear of any tire I have had on any car. Will not buy these again.

Grip in wet and dry seemed to me just as good as the Continental Super-Eco's (or whatever it was that I replaced before the ER300s) -- BUT the big issue for me has been tire wear. I put a set of 4 on less than 15000 miles ago and the front pair just went away very quickly. Today I decided they've had it. The rears are fine (but then on this car you'd expect the rears to last forever). I've never had a set of quality branded tires wear so quickly as these ER300s. The Continentals lasted twice as long, but weren't twice the price. I won't touch Bridgestones again for a while.

I'm looking at Kumho KU31 tires to replace these ER300s. The web reviews of the Kumhos look very promising.

Given 60% while driving a Skoda Roomster (195/55 R15 V) on mostly country roads for 10,000 average miles
A good tire for the money, not much change in grip between dry and wet, progressiveness is not the best and little warning when they are about to let go, which they do under heavy braking.

Bought these as a replacement for Continental Sport Contact 2's. Heard they were good so thought I'd give them a try. First impressions after driving out of the tire fitters were 'Where's the noise gone?!?'. These tires are so fantastically quiet it is almost untrue. On freshly laid tarmac it is almost as if there is no tire noise whatsoever.

Dry handling: After a bit of wearing in, I decided to give the grip a go, firstly in the dry. The first thing I noticed was hardly no tire squeal near the grip limit. Also, these tires find it very hard to let go in the dry. Almost unheard of grip for a family saloon, so much so that I can out corner the good lady's Celica VVTi with these tires! The nearest I've come to this level of grip before was in an MG ZS I used to own that had Michelin Pilot Sports on at ?130 a corner. I bet the Turanza would be a worthy opponent.

Wet handling: One word 'grippy'. The continental's of old seemed to be more sports oriented, in that the ride was noisier and more harsh. It seems the Turanza's offer even more grip whilst somehow making less noise and less harshness. If you really push in the wet you will slide with power on, but you really can tell when it's going to happen and also you wont believe how fast you are going when it finally does lose traction. Fantastic in the wet for sure.

Wear: Hmm. Not so good. It seems that with all this traction, lack of road noise and smooth ride somewhat kills the life of the tire. 10k has passed and very close to legal limit, maybe get to 12k before they lose grip and need replacing. My driving includes alot of town driving, tire killing roundabouts and alot of welsh mountain roads at not so slow speed (should the need arise). I am not put off by the wear though as I would much rather pay for tires that will ultimately save your life through grip if the need arises. I will definitely buy these again.
Braking: Three words - Really darn good. Laguna's have fantastic brakes regardless, but with these tires I can report something bizarre.
Picture the scene - A long motorway hill in north wales with exit at the bottom, no anti-slip tarmac measures. Motorway is dead hence so is the off-slip. I think' lets really try the brakes!' With that, I absolutely stamp on the middle pedal at 70mph. This is what I cannot believe; the road was damp, not wet, but visibly damp. Steering wheel stayed perfectly straight and the ABS didnt even kick in, I just hauled to a stop in almost record breaking distance. I pulled off again chuckling away at how these tires just refused to lose grip and let the ABS do it's thing.
Well done Bridgestone - I will keep buying these tires as long as you keep making them. Can I recommend them for your car? I don't know as every car's geometry is different - But if you drive a Phase II Laguna DCi, you will not be disppointed!

Given 60% while driving a Honda Accord (205/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 65,000 spirited miles
Having bought the car with Michelin Energys, decided that I would go back to the OEM spec ER300s.
1st impressions were brilliant. They coped with all the torque and it was becoming a cass of bottle rather than grip in the corners.
Disapointed with the grip in the wet though. Pulling out of junctions needed a very light foot or the tires would just spin up and when cold, they were unnerving through the bends.
Great comfort and not a lot of raod noise, but after 12k on the front they've become unbareable in the wet.
Moving up to the RE050A now. Hope they have more traction in the wet and last a bit longer!!

Given 80% while driving a Mazda 3 Series (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Impressive tires for touring rated. Dry grip and handling is good, but I was impressed with the Wet grip. Not as good as the cheapest/greatest :) Silverstone Evol-VIII, but the comfort you get make these tires a great buy. Best touring tire I've tested in 205 size. They wear very well for such a (wet) grippy tire.
Bottom line, if you're not rallying with these guys, you'll be surprised with the grip (specially in the rain), the low noise, comfort and thread wear. If you are looking for a TOURING tire but sometimes you drive like Loeb, the Contis Premium Contact 2 are the first choice, as their feedback is far better and cornering stability is superior. But as I said before, for 205 size, overall, the ER 300 are the best in it's class.

Given 76% while driving a Honda Civic Coupe 1.6i SR VTEC (185/60 R14 H) on a combination of roads for 25,000 spirited miles
Very nice tires. Dry grip was very good indeed, wet grip was relatively even better. I was really impressed by how much these tires held on wet roads. Very confidence inspiring. Wear rate was excellent, noise and comfort similarly so. For a "touring" tire, these are superb and much better than the P6000s so common for this size tire (which I've also driven). They're only let you down a little when you push them (but then you really should be buying a performance tire, not a touring tire!), where you get a lot of scrabbling and sudden break away, and also steering response isn't the best, so they're not the best for fast country road driving. Everything else, especially motorway miles, bring it on!
