SUV and 4x4 Summer Touring Tires Tire Review Highlights
Accelera Iota ST68 — rated 97%
while driving a BMW X6 M for 2000 miles
I fitted a set of four these on My BMW X6 30d
22 inch Wheels
Although I've given them all 10 star ratings the most important thing I've got to say is they work just fine. I don't race my car around a track where I live there's quite a bit of traffic which I generally just go with the flow. If it's raining heavily I adjust my driving accordingly again I'm not racing about. Very initially I thought the ride was a tiny bit harder but I just let a little bit of air out of each one and I can't honestly say they feel any different from the original continentals
Here is the rub.
Accelera Iota ST 68 £470 a set of four
Premium brands all around £1400 for a set of four.
Can't comment on longevity at the moment but I could have three sets of these for a set of premiums!

General Grabber GT+ — rated 66%
while driving a Land Rover Discovery 4 for 5000 miles
Fresh set fitted before I bought the Discovery 4, initial impression was positive - a good summer tire with no bad habits on tarmac. As Winter arrived my view changed, they are vague on damp roads and standing water is a nightmare, don’t even bother on anything slippy off-road. Ice/slush is beyond their remit. At 50% worn they are being scrapped and replaced with my preferred 4x4 tire - Pirelli Scorpion.

Accelera Iota ST68 — rated 60%
while driving a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2CRDI for 12000 miles
Very good silent and comfortable tires with pretty good grip on the first 5.000-8.000km. Started becoming very noisy after 10.000km and almost completely bald at 20.000km. Not recommended to use for heavy rain, these tires have a hobby of aquaplaning, braking distance also increase by quite a lot when using these tires. Probably one of the cheapest tires I can get for the size (second to the GT Champiros which are way worse with the body roll, no grip and very loud). Considering the price and wear of the tire, seems quite expensive, changed to the Goodyear Assurance Max SUVs which are much better in almost every aspect except the comfort level of the Iota is still unbeatable at its' price point. The goodyears are 12% more pricey but lasted more than 50.000kms turning out to be cheaper, and doesn't get louder with more wear.

Maxxis HP M3 — rated 37%
while driving a MG ZS EV · Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
Honestly, these tires haven't impressed. My wife's ZS was fitted with these from new, and immediately their deficiencies jumped out. Very numb steering response, not much in the way of feedback and the biggest problem, they are so easy to spin or slide in damp to wet conditions; trying to pull out of junctions in the wet requires you to be very gentle, or you're going nowhere with the smell of rubber coming into the cabin, at least until the traction control kicks in. You can also spin them if you are too enthusiastic in the dry, but it's not as much of a issue. This is our second ZS so we knew it wasn't the car; the first one was supplied on Kumho from new and felt entirely different.

They recently finally wore out, 15,000 miles for the fronts to wear out; ironically the rear tires (FWD model) only lasted about 1500 miles more than the driven wheels. They've been replaced with Pirelli Powergy front and rear, and the car no longer feels numb, there's communication through the wheel, and they don't spin if you look at them funny. Overall, they are cheap for a reason, their life wasn't great, and their performance was iffy.

General Grabber GT+ — rated 99%
while driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 4x4 · Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 average miles
Fiitted Gt plus and got excited with the dry and wet grip, comfort, low noise, accurate steering and economy. Excellent driving in the wet, best tire I had ever had. Had replaced the Goodyears Efficient grip 2 SUV, which were a bit better in the steering in highways but less grip everywear else. Need to mention GT plus are made of double layer of polyamide on the tread, instead of one layer in Goodyears, and I think this makes GT better. GT plus is A rated in wet, and can drive on sand, therefore I beleive it is not a classic summer tire but an excellent H/T highway terrain tire. Also uses the Continental tech. Therefore highly reccomented for SUVs.

Maxxis HP M3 — rated 36%
while driving a MG ZS EV · Driving on mostly country roads for 9000 average miles
Have these tires on MG ZSEV. Performance is adequate in the dry. Reasonable grip and handling is acceptable given the rather stodgy set up of the MG. The issue is in the wet. The grip is awful. The torque from the electric motor spins the wheels when pulling away in the wet with almost no acceleration. It is downright dangerous. Cornering in the wet is also poor. I've decided to change these tires at only 9000 miles, not because they are worn out, but because I'm not prepared to let me daughter (18 and inexperienced) drive on such scary tires.

Maxtrek Sierra S6 — rated 43%
while driving a Kia Motors Sportage · Driving on a combination of roads for 17005 easy going miles
Traction control kicked in almost every time I touched the brakes in wet weather, cornering was done at below 30mph to ensure no drift. Dry weather was better if road surface was very rough.

Kormoran Suv Summer — rated 97%
while driving a Hyundai Tucson · Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
Bought 2 Kormoran SUV for the front of my Hyundai Tuscon and couldn't be more pleased for the price. Confident driving, responsive and positive in both wet and dry on both local and motorways. Have driven getting on for 3000 miles with them now, wear isn't noticeable (to the point I had to question my own tread depth gauge!, but seem as good as new)
Highly recommend these

Petlas Explero PT431 — rated 100%
while driving a Audi Q7 · Driving on a combination of roads for 35000 spirited miles
I bought these Petlas Explero tires 275/40/20 in 2022. I bought a set of summer tires and a set of winter tires.
I have already run about 65,000 km on the summer tires (3 seasons) and I can say that these are very good tires.
I personally did not expect such behavior on the road.
I drive the tires on an Audi Q7 2009 TDI, in general I drive a little faster outside the city.
Very good behavior in turns, in water and braking.
I can say the same thing about the winter tires from the same series.

Kormoran Suv Summer — rated 96%
while driving a Hyundai Tucson · Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 easy going miles
Great grip both in wet and dry. Performance competes with tires at twice the price! Have them fitted to the front axle on my Hyundai Tuscon, covered approx 2000 miles now and tread depth has hardly changed from the original 8mm they came with. Planning to put a pair on the rears as soon as they need replacing.

Landsail LS588 SUV — rated 83%
while driving a Volvo XC90 D5 185 HP · Driving on a combination of roads for 18600 average miles
Just driven my third summer season on this tire. Car: Volvo XC90
They’ve done approximately 30 000 km and I bet they’ll do next summer as well.

I have nothing bad to say about this tire.

They perform well in dry, wet, cold and hot weather. Not complaining about the wear either as 4 seasons on a heavy SUV is pretty good imho.

Given you’re not tracking them - they are well worth it! Under normal, and even spirited driving they do great!

Just make sure you store them well off-season (dry, in shade, not too hot), make sure the pressures are according to spec (chatgpt helps with what pressures you should have on your car with your specific tire size).

Easily buying again!
