Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 vs Toyo Proxes Sport 2
The data reveals a clear pattern: the Asymmetric 6 dominates wet safety (braking, handling, aquaplaning) and adds best-in-class efficiency, wear, and refinement. The Proxes Sport 2 counters with lively dry dynamics and occasional strengths in specific aquaplaning and off-road traction sub-tests, but tends to give up time and distance in the wet and on longevity. If you drive in mixed or rainy climates, the performance gap is meaningful.

Test Results
Independent comparison tire tests are the best source of data to get tire information from, and the good news is there have been eight tests which compare both tires directly!

Real World Driver Reviews
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 Driver Reviews
Drivers rate the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 very highly overall, most often praising its strong dry and especially wet grip, short braking distances, and predictable/progressive behavior near the limit. Many also report a comfortable, refined ride for a UHP tire with good value versus Michelin/Continental rivals. The main recurring downsides are faster-than-expected tread wear for some users and noticeable roar/rumble on rough asphalt, with a smaller but repeated theme of softer sidewalls or slightly numb turn-in/understeer compared with sharper alternatives.

Toyo Proxes Sport 2 Driver Reviews
Drivers overwhelmingly praise the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 for outstanding dry and wet grip, sharp steering response, and confidence-inspiring, predictable handling even at high speeds. Many note strong value for money versus premium rivals, with several reporting good ride comfort for a sport tire and promising wear. Aquaplaning resistance and braking performance receive consistent compliments. A recurring minor downside is the lack of rim protection.

I have now had the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5's, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports, Michelin PS4 and even some Avon's (for a brief period) on my current car - a Golf GTI Clubsport 40.
I mix up my driving a lot - lots of motorway driving but also lots of hard street driving and B road blasts, I find it massively important to have the best tires possible to allow me to push my car as hard as I can in a safe manner.
I was massively impressed with the Asymmetric 5's, the sheer grip... Continue reading this review using the link below
It is simply a better tire in absolutely every single way. I drive like a ****, and these tires just give so much confidence. I can brake stupidly quick in both dry and mildly wet conditions, even through the corners. They hook up so well and are incredibly predictable - they really bite the road and mitigate so much understeer in my 2006 Leon FR.
When there’s a more significant layer of water on the road they don’t... Continue reading this review using the link below
Conclusion
Toyo's Proxes Sport 2 shines for enthusiasts prioritizing crisp dry response and budget-friendly entry pricing. It can edge the Goodyear on the odd dry handling lap or specific aquaplaning/traction metric, and reviewers note its reactive steering and engaging feel. However, wetter conditions expose its limits, and its shorter wear life and higher rolling resistance diminish overall value. Choose the Goodyear for best all-round safety and longevity; pick the Toyo if you mainly drive in dry conditions and want taut handling at a lower upfront cost.
Key Differences
- Wet safety: Goodyear wins every wet braking result and most wet handling metrics, often by 4-7%
- Dry performance balance: Goodyear is more consistent; Toyo occasionally edges dry handling laps by tenths
- Longevity: Goodyear's projected mileage advantage is large (typically +35% to +90%)
- Efficiency and noise: Goodyear runs quieter with lower rolling resistance; Toyo is slightly louder and less efficient
- Value: Despite similar upfront pricing, Goodyear's wear and efficiency make it cheaper per 1,000 km; Toyo can be cheaper to buy
- Use-case tolerance: Goodyear remains composed in changing conditions; Toyo is more sensitive in the wet and at higher temperatures

Footnote
This page has been developed using tire industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tires in the same test.
Why is this important? Tire testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tire test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tire tests performed on different days or at different locations.
As a result you will see other tests on Tire Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.
Lots of other websites do this sort of tire comparison, Tire Reviews doesn't.
