Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Good handling in the dry, good comfort levels, low rolling resistance.
Understeer and long braking distances in the wet. High noise level.

Low rolling resistance
Average handling on dry and wet surfaces
The Toyo SUV tire offers excellent dry handling, but is seriously compromised by its wet performance, characterised by long slides and a poor balance. Poor aquaplaning results round out the bad wet result (not surprising considering they start with 6.3mm of tread compared to 7.8mm) and have poor comfort and noise scores. Not the best option.

Top 3 Toyo Proxes T1 Sport SUV Reviews

Given 85% while driving a Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.9T V6 Quadrifoglio (285/40 R20) on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
I replaced my originally factory fitted Pirelli P Zero (rear 285/40/20 front 255/45/20) with these Toyo's. The Pirelli's were almost gone when replacing. I have had a hugh doubt what the replace the Pirelli's, because of prices differ amazingly. In the end I took the gamble with these Toyo's. They were average 155 euro's per tire, the Pirelli's would come in at 300 euro's. So basically they are half price. I would fear I would loss sportiness. My Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is a crazy sporty car for beiing a SUV. With (now) 580HP it put the tires under hugh pressure. The fact of the matter is that I feel I have lost 5% sportiness but gained about 30% comfort. And that is really welcoming. My wife really asked me: why is the car so quiet and why does it feels so luxerious. Ok, the Pirelli's were really worn out, but then again, the difference is really hugh. With normal and sporty driving you feel no difference in sportiness. It's only when you really going to push, you feel a slightly "softer" sidewall. Well, still the sidewall is incredibly stiff. Maybe the Pirelli's are just overdone, and this Toyo's is right were it should be. On the edge they are predictable and well behaving. The design is good (almost same side wall design and also tire pattern). The rear tires a slightly different to the front. Above 285 width Toyo puts a very tiny center pattern on the tire to increase straight stability. You can really feel how stable the tires are at greater speeds. I cannot say other then I absolutely fell in love with the tires. In this size for this car absolutely recommendable. Amazing value for money.

Given 87% while driving a Mercedes Benz ML350 (265/45 R20) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
I do around 5000 miles a year and have found these to be a great all round reasonably priced tire. I have had them on for over 12months now and still have plenty tread left to see through a couple years more. They perform well in the dry handling well at various speeds, slightly less so in the wet but not excessively poor. I will definitely purchase again.

Jeep (265/50 R20 V) on a combination of roads for 27,000 average miles
These tires have lasted miles. They have rim protecting cross section and quite on the motorways despite the relative low cost.
I have just ordered a new pair for the front of my Jeep Grand Cherokee having done 27k

Given 81% while driving a Hyundai Santa Fe (225/60 R18) on mostly town for 15,000 average miles
Medium up range tire but abit low wear on SUV labelled, 23000km almost their limit. Abit costly at my area, 200sgd for 225/60R18. Not willing to buy again.

Given 51% while driving a BMW X5 3.0d Sport (275/40 R20 W) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
Have driven 5000 miles fronts have four mm left evenly on both front tires so alignment should be ok back 315s have six mm left but keeping lookout for sign of cords coming through on inside edge ok so far . Drive mix of roads to work 30/40 60 . Have the odd blast .

Given 91% while driving a Land Rover Range Rover Sport (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 17,500 spirited miles
Great tires, had Toyos on my work van few times before so tried these on my Range Rover, good spirited driving on country roads and motorways, really improved the handling on a big heavy car compared to the cheaper tires that were fitted before. Great on country roads and smooth on motorway cruising. 17500 miles so far and still 40-50%.Will certainly buy again.
