Performance Analysis

Drawn from 14 tests. Updated November 16, 2025.

Michelin Energy Saver Plus shows mixed summer performance with standout results in earlier, smaller sizes and clear weaknesses as tests move to broader, more demanding comparisons. It peaks with a win in 2013 (1/19) and strong braking/top-18 placements in large shootouts (8/54 in 2013; 3/18 in 2015), and is frequently praised for wear. However, across the full dataset it trends mid-pack to below average, with several bottom-third finishes in 205/55 R16 and 195/65 R15 sizes and recurring penalties for wet performance, pulling its average rank to 9.1/14 tests.

2012 Auto Express Summer Tire Test

Auto Express 205/55 R16

The new Michelin Energy Saver+ had the best rolling resistance, but was the weakest tire in wet handling, proving the balance between fuel economy and wet grip is still difficult to master. Only being average in the dry left the Michelin in last place
