The most recent reviews, in their own words
These tires were fitted to my R53 mini cooper S when I purchased it and let me just say it's the worst tire I have ever had the displeasure of using. lets start with the only 3 things this tire has going for it. Number 1 the durability is fantastic, a set of these tires will definitely last longer then you will be willing to keep using them, number 2 they are actually fairly responsive in terms of steering, number 3 they fit the rim.
I previously had toyo proxes tr1 and going from those tires to those joyroads was what I'm fairly certain it feels like to fly a sailboat in a hurricane, if you even so much as think about wet weather these tires completely lose the ability to function they are genuinely dangerous in the rain you would have a better attempt at making it to your destination unharmed if you wrestled an alligator with a lasso and rode it there like a surfboard!. Now let's talk about the noise these tires scream like a toddler with toothache 5mph in a carpark you turn into a bay and suddenly these tires give you their best impression of a 2am cat fight the entire car park has virtually snapped their necks spinning around wondering who has just gone sliding into a trolley bay but nope sorry ladies and gents I'm just turning at more then a 4° angle. I honestly can't describe how poor these tires are I ran them for 5 thousand miles and honestly I now have a case of PTSD, post traumatic sliding disorder I still have around 5mm of tread left but I've now had them changed and gone back to Toyo proxes tr1 and I will never again use a set of these tires.
Remember when you were a kid and your parents bought you a cheap pair of shoes with thin hard plastic soles? You could skid over anything in them. Now imagine them made into tires. In the dry they’re ok but even with the finest misting of water on the road it’s like driving over a road soaked in diesel. I have an Avensis 2.0 D4D and I’m old. I don’t boot it. On the back end my car kicked out without any warning multiple times. I honestly thought there had been a diesel spillage. Having replaced my fonts with decent tires I decided to switch and put these on the front to finish-’em off. They went from dangerous to lethal. Yesterday I tried to pass a learner on an A38 slip road in said damp. At 20 mph I put my foot down. Traction warning lights. I had to abort the maneuver. Not again. Tons of tread but they’re coming off! They wear like iron: they also grip like iron on tarmac. Don’t buy them!
This tires makes fun car no more fun anymore. Awful wet grip, awful dry grip, zero feedback from the road, too loud. Even at dry, with just a %70 brake pressure you can get the fronts locking up. For the money they do allow me to drive my car though, i paid around 280 usd for four tires. Though i really beg anyone that thinking about this tire, if you're only getting it for short A to B trips then sure its worth the price. If not, just get something thats better, which won't be hard to find, almost any tire is probably better than this. I switched from the OEM Contisportcontact5 tires (they were 6 years old at the time, dry rotted) to the Joyroads, and honestly it never felt like an upgrade, even the 6 year old worn conti's were almost on par with these tires. But you get what you pay for, they definitely do held up, i cant tell any signs of worn.
Turns out they are terrible in the wet, have experienced understeer, once being close to coming off the road. So today I have decided to change them even with loads of tread. Just too poor handling. Also fed up with pulling away and the car wheelspinning even slightly in the dry.
