Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance Owner Reviews

Review this tire

What owners say summarised from 223 reviews

Across 223 reviews averaging 75.1%, most owners describe the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance as a quiet, comfortable tire with strong everyday grip in both the wet and dry, and many also notice improved fuel economy. The main recurring drawback is its notably soft sidewalls: around one in five owners report vague steering, a floaty feel or reduced confidence, particularly when driving briskly or at higher speeds. Tread life is more divisive than other areas, with near as many owners disappointed in wear as those praising long mileage.

On the rear i head to replace 2 michelin pilot sport 3. I choose for the efficiënt grip performance in the size 245/40r18 for our audi 2004 a6 with standard lower suspension. Tires drive well and are quiet. Verry good grip on wet and dry conditions. Also good in fuel economy. The michelin on the back were stiff and it had a negative reaction due to comfort. The problem left with the goodyears.
On the front i have michelin super sport. These tires are superb!!!! Grip and steering reactions are verry verry good. So when these tires have to be replaced i do not know if i will fit the goodyears on the front. The goodyears have a weaker sidewall.

Very suprised at the negative reviews. I find the tires excellent on the new Kia Ceed CRDi auto far better than the uncomfortable feelless Hankooks, Not had them long enough to find wearabilty, Very good Value. I recommend these Goodyear tires.

10d after fitting them I got a bulge on the sidewall. The sidewalls are dangerously soft and these tires are coming off tomorrow.
As a result of the soft sidewall the stability of the car was negatively affected, and caused a lot understeer.

A waste of money and time, but thankfully I am still alive (and hope to make it to the garage in one piece)

I've destroyed two brand new tires because of the potholes. Horrible quality on bad roads! Never again! Badyear tires.

Good grip in wet condition, dry grip could have been better. Not much road feedback and no change to mpg.

Tire just starts to lose its comfort and softness a little bit earlier than expected but even in that case it is still better than Continental PremiumContact5 or Pirelli P1 Cinturato.

It has;
* Low rolling resistance and as a result low fuel consumption. I went from 8.1l/100km to 7.8l/100km in Istanbul with my 2006 1.6FSi Golf Plus A/T.
* Low noise compared to Michelin Energy Saver+ that my father used to use on his 2006 1.6FSi Jetta.
* Good braking distance even in wet surface.
* Great handling both in dry and wet surface.

Replaced all four worn Yokohamas on an MX5 with these due to the Yoko's pitiful performance in the wet (and stunning replacement cost). In comparison, these tires are grippy and silent, in pretty much all conditions. The down side is that they're softer and there's less feedback - but cornering is so much more fun when you know you're not going to end up sideways because of a puddle.

Their softer feel also makes the car much more palatable on the extensively poor road surfaces around Manchester, so for everyday driving (which is what I do every day) they're superb. So good that the bus is getting a pair this afternoon.

Bought as a replacement for the original runflat tires, which were extremely hard and uncomfortable on the UK's poor roads. The Goodyears are much softer. Probably too soft. I am struggling to find the right tire pressures to offer the best compromise between the handling capabilities of the previous runflats, but with a softer ride associated with normal tires. Currently running 34psi front and 35.5psi rear. Handling getting better as I raise the pressures, so I might add another psi all round, and leave it at that.
All in all, probably too soft for a BMW 1 series with 205/55/16 tires.
