Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT Owner Reviews

Review this tire

What owners say summarised from 45 reviews

Dry grip is the most consistently liked aspect of the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT, praised by eighteen of forty-three owners against three criticisms. Wet grip is almost evenly split, with nine favorable accounts and ten complaints, while road noise draws twelve criticisms against two positive comments. Tread life varies, with long service in some end-of-life accounts and rapid wear in others. Comfort concerns come from six owners, around one in seven. One owner continues to report noise in a later review, but the two owners who wrote again do not establish a shared ageing pattern. Across forty-five reviews, the 64.2% average combines twenty positive scores, eighteen neutral and seven below 40%.

Western Australia here, satisfaction absolutely compared to the original SP Sport Maxx that were on the car when new. Can't comment on the wet as it's past rain here now as the year moves into summer. Read reports on the noise however I feel as they're a performance tire a little noise is normal, ride is Ok and I'm more than pleased with the feel, good looks also.

These tires replaced my OEM Conti Sportcontact 2's and were very noisy for the first 5000 miles even with the correct pressure in the tires. Gave good grip in the dry and OK grip in the wet. The tires give apalling grip in cold weather and need to be warmed up before taking them to their limits but were OK once up to temperature. When at the limit they slid nicely with no unexpected behavior and easy to handle. now on 19K miles they need replacing with 2.5 mm of tread due to cracks appearing between the treadblocks which seems to be common with dunlops. I won't be buying any more of these due to this problem.

Brilliant. Admittedly I only have these on the rear at the moment so when it comes to 'grip' it's all about how low down the loud pedal is.

Good tire though - looks good and has rim protection - always a must!

For all the merits of these Dunlop Maxx tires (on an A3 2.0 TDI Sportback), I could not wait to replace them due to the excessive noise (I have had several Premium brands and these were noticably noisier!). They were very good tires though otherwise as I constantly drove the car like I was on crack, and despite all the torque through the front wheels they rarely squeeled to get grip, and lasted over 10,000 miles which is almost double the previous Pirellis I had.

Reasonable cost for this size of tire. Good grip in the dry, but when it is slightly damp they let go very quickly.

Felt the tires were always struggling to cope, especially in the wet, and disappointed with the wheel spin when pulling away. After 16k they are up for replacement. I won't be putting Dunlops back on.
