Michelin Pilot Sport 3 PS3 Reviews - Page 17

Given 73% while driving a Saab Automobile (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 8,000 spirited miles
Outstanding performance on both wet and dry roads, but VERY VERY quick wearing. After 8000 miles front tires were completely dead.

I've driving my c-class on these tires for 1500 km and they are great.highly recommending 205/55-16v.improved comfort and handling vs. previous sport contact 2

Recently replaced the standard Pirelli p-zeros on my 08 Polo GTI with Michelin Pilot Sport 3's all round. Honestly they have transformed my car. The handling is drastically improved but so is the comfort and the road noise. They are not the cheapest tire but I'd recommend them to anyone.

Given 73% while driving a Alfa Romeo 156 GTA (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 3,000 average miles
Outstanding grip on wet and dry roads. Good feedback. BUT....shockingly quick wearing on my FWD 156 GTA. Getting close to the wire after only 3000 miles of mostly average driving. Rears still have plenty of tread. In summary, fantastic grip but if you have a fairly powerful FWD car I would give these a wide berth - unless you don't mind forking out for a new pair every few thousand miles.

Given 87% while driving a Honda Accord (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
My previous review when fitted:
"Excellent tire and compared to my previous Contis SC2 I find the Michelin PS3 better overall.
Only thing not sure yet is the wear but after 1000 miles they still look like almost no wear at all. A little early though to say with confidence that they last well. tire reviewed on June 8, 2011"

So now that I have a better idea I confirm again better overall performance than my previous Continentals Sportcontact2. In the past summer (very hot temperatures therefore hard conditions for tires here in Cyprus) I had no problem at all in any aspect especially regarding grip. They give a great feel of safety no matter how hard you push them to the limit. In the winter I noticed just a little lower performance in the wet. When accelerating on snow/icy road I was surprised of facing more spinning than I expected, however not bad overall. Anyway I am not an expert on snow conditions. As for the wear after 10k kilometers/6000 miles the fronts have lost around 2 mm (I guess it's quite good) and it's time to rotate with the backs which are still like almost new !!

Given 83% while driving a Vauxhall Astra (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Very pleased with this tire in every way, I drive very hard so cannot expect huge milage but only got 6000 Miles from a 200bhp Astra, this compares to about 20,000 from a budget tire. Superb grip in any condition and I am just about to order my next set.

Given 100% while driving a BMW 328ci (225/45 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 0 average miles
I have PS3 at the back and Direzza at the front, in the wet, the front (direzza) would lose grip and understeer. Great.

Given 74% while driving a Skoda Octavia vRS (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 24,000 spirited miles
Not sure which way to go next time around as these tires are expensive and excellent until you really start to push on in the dry... then a bit 'wobbly' - rather than 'drifty'.

PS3 Best compromise between comfort and steering feel. Fantastic in the wet like Contisportcontact 3, much much better than Bridestone. If you are looking for a tire which is great in the wet, and is comfortable and not noisy, yet at the same time it is still very sporty and if price is affordable then get this. Bridgestone out perform any in the dry. This is the tire I'm getting over and over again :)

Bridgestone S001 (replacement for RE050a) is superb in the dry and has great steering feedback but it is noisy and doesn't absorb bumps as well.
This is not from my experience but from a friend who does a bit of racing, he says S001 are very progressive, although it is not as grippy in the wet and only average however subjectively, this tire is the best to drive on because it is progressive. Potholes and uneven surface does tend to make it more busy but it feels great because it is progressive.

Contisportcontact 3 is very comfortable but loses on steering feel and sharpness.

It seems like Bridgestone S001 is performance oriented and Continental Conticontactsport 3 is for comfort and Michelin PS3 is a great compromise between the two. I didn't generalize because with each model manufacturers can change, ie Michelin PS2 are dry performance oriented and now the PS3 are wet & green oriented.

Given 83% while driving a Ford Focus ST3 2008 (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Very good tires, excellent grip in the dry and wet and could handle a lot of torque very well for a street tire.
The downside is that they dont last that much. Had to swap rear for fronts in about 10.000 km about 6500 miles, but take in consideration that i had 550 nm only on the front wheels and drove it hard.

Another thing to add, the wall doesnt take bumps and pot holes pretty well. blown a tire at only 30 mph.

Given 97% while driving a BMW E39 5 series (235/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 average miles
Simply the best tires I have ever bought. Nothing quiet compares to them. I have been driving professionally for 45 years and find these tires amazing.
My reason for changing to them was at the time the roads were very icy and back roads ungritted and dangerous. The percieved difference was like chalk and cheeze. The tires I took off were Dunlop SP Sports with lots of tread left. I first bought the Michelin Pilot 3's during the British winter of 2010. No other tire I have bought comes near to the performance of these tires.

Tire wear the only problem if you have a powerful car, oem with my RS250 works very well. A tire that one must try at least once in a life time....PS2 is better than the PS3
