Kumho Ecsta KU39 Owner Reviews
Review this tireWhat owners say summarised from 115 reviews
The Kumho Ecsta KU39 receives substantially more praise than criticism for dry and wet grip, quiet running, comfort and value. Handling and steering feedback are also generally liked, although they attract fewer comments than grip. Tread life draws more favorable than unfavorable reports, with some mid-life and end-of-life accounts supporting good service, but around one in ten reviews raise wear concerns. Most accounts do not identify a stage of use, so they cannot establish a typical lifespan or consistent grip retention. Repeat reviews give varied experiences, and changes in scores alone do not show a common deterioration pattern.

In the dry these tires have gripped well and I have had no major issues with them and they seem to do a good job and are fairly progressive. In the wet however they are slightly above average when pushed hard and bit skitterish when pushed to the limits, the ESP has been in overdrive a few times in the wet. I do a weekly commute of 600 miles mainly motorway and a few a roads thrown in and these tires are a very comfortable motorway cruiser. I cruise on the motorway at about between 80-90MPH and do have some fun on the A roads so fairly spirited use with these tires.
I have managed to test them in the snow and they have not got stuck at any time and do offer grip.
Overall I would say that they are good value for money as I paid 112 pounds each fitted for 1 tire, but they are not as good as the premium brands and TBH I think they will be shot at between 12-14k which is poor IMHO, as I have had the Falken ZE912 and they lasted just over 20K previously and were the same price with the same driving style.

So far and 4k in they have been good, the dry grip is good with no issues there however in the wet they dont give you maximum confidence as they do tend to slide a little when pushed into bends, but they do warn you before they are about to let go. Very comfortable and smooth on town roads and motorways and road noise is minimal I cant comment on wear yet but will do as the miles tick over.
Nice effort for Kumho a good mid range tire imo.
