Highway terrain all season tires are probably the most important category of tire I've never tested. They're one of the biggest selling segments in North America, so it was about time I gave them the same treatment every other category gets.
For this test I picked seven of the most popular HTs on sale today, all in 265/65 R18, spanning pretty much every price point you'll find at a US tire shop. There's the segment benchmark - the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 - alongside the brand-new General Grabber HT, mid-range options from Cooper (Endeavor Plus), Firestone (Destination LE3), Kumho (Crugen HT51) and Yokohama (Geolandar HT G056), and a budget tire in the Westlake SU318 HT to find out how far cheap has come. The question I wanted to answer is the one I think most truck owners are asking: does spending more money actually mean a better tire?

Three of the most popular all-terrain tires on the market go head-to-head in a comprehensive on-road, off-road, and winter comparison. Despite sharing the same LT 275/65R18 Load Range E sizing and severe snow rating, the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3, Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent Enlighten, and Cooper Discoverer Stronghold A/T each target distinctly different buyers — and our testing confirms just how different they really are.

Polish automotive publication Motor tested seven all-season tires in size 215/55 R17 for issue 48/2025. The lineup included two premium tires from Michelin and Continental, three mid-segment options from Nokian Tires, Vredestein, and Yokohama, and two budget choices from Polish brand Dębica and Chinese manufacturer Sunny.
The most interesting result is Nokian Tires' new Seasonproof 2 taking overall victory despite being a mid-segment tire competing against premium products. It scored maximum points in wet conditions, winning every wet test category. The testers noted this as evidence that mid-segment tires are now a real threat to premium products in the rankings.

This test was conducted by TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH between January and February 2025 (report number 713351940-PM), testing five premium all-season tires in size 205/55 R16 94V XL. The test was commissioned by Nokian Tires as part of their Premium Tire Mark certification for the Seasonproof 2, with the Nokian tire compared against the Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6, Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3, Michelin CrossClimate 2, and Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF 3. While TÜV SÜD is a fully independent testing organization with a strong reputation for objectivity, it is important to note that this test was requested and paid for by Nokian Tires.

Pirelli’s brand-new Scorpion XTM arrives with bold claims that it matches or outperforms the KO3 across dry, wet, snow, mud and grass, while improving rolling resistance and steering response. I set out to see how those claims stack up with back-to-back subjective testing on-road and off-road.
