Which should you buy?
Choose the Falken ZIEX ZE320 for the best all-round summer performance and the most confidence in mixed conditions-especially if braking performance, stability and aquaplaning resistance matter. Choose the Maxxis Premitra HP6 if you're value-led and want strong wet-cornering feel and good efficiency, and you don't frequently face high-speed standing water or prioritize ride/quietness.
Where the ZIEX ZE320 is stronger
- Consistently shortest dry braking across all three tests (wins 3/3; ~5-6% shorter than HP6 each time)
- Balanced, confidence-inspiring handling with strong wet handling performance (e.g., 88.0 s vs 89.34 s in Auto Express; 74.2 s vs 74.3 s in Vi Bilagare)
- Better aquaplaning security overall, especially in more demanding measures (Auto Express curved aquaplaning 3.61 vs 3.06 m/s²; straight aquaplaning wins 3/3)
Where the Premitra HP6 is stronger
- Strong wet-cornering grip (wet circle wins in Auto Express and Vi Bilagare; e.g., 11.50 s vs 11.66 s)
- Often better efficiency metrics (Auto Express rolling resistance 7.53 vs 8.05 kg/t; Vi Bilagare fuel 5.3 vs 5.5 l/100 km)
- Competitive wet braking in two of three tests (beats Falken in Auto Express 27.1 vs 27.3 m and ADAC 33.4 vs 34.3 m)
The bullet points are analysis of the shared tests and of owner reviews; the measured wins in each discipline are in the tables below. Where the two disagree, the figures are right.

Wins count every measurement the shared tests recorded for both tires; a tick marks the tire ahead on that line. Subjective driver scores count as wins but are never averaged, because each test uses its own scale.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 118 ft stop against 112 ft is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 97%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 10 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

- 92,020 milesdriven by reviewers
Owners are overwhelmingly happy with the Falken ZIEX ZE320, with consistently strong reports of dry grip and confident handling, backed up by positive wet-weather feedback. Around half of owners who mention it also find road noise low for the class, and a third highlight sharp steering response. The main caveats come from around one in five owners citing higher fuel use and similarly around one in five questioning tread life, while isolated comments mention reduced performance in extreme heat and less progressive behavior at the limit.
- Strong dry grip
- Low road noise for the class
- Confident wet grip
- Sharp steering response and good feedback
- Mediocre rolling resistance (worse fuel economy)
- Questionable tread life for some owners
- Can lose performance in very high heat

All 17 ZIEX ZE320 reviewsThe tires provide excellent handling and grip in both dry and wet conditions. There is absolutely no tire noise on the highways, although if the asphalt quality is poor, some noise returns. The ride is very comfortable and not too firm. I rotated the tires from front to back at 10,000 km, and I haven't noticed any wear at this point. Overall, these tires offer great value for the price, and I feel very confident in both braking and cornering!
Maxxis Premitra HP6
- 65%from 3 reviews
- 31,000 milesdriven by reviewers
All 3 Premitra HP6 reviewsTires are spongy, imprecise, indirect, and very unsporty on dry roads. They are quiet and save fuel. In wet conditions, they are average and completely okay. Despite AAA and BMW * approval, they do not fit a sporty front-wheel drive car like a Fiesta MH 155 HP. Very affordable and completely fine for everyday use. Sportiness compared to Continental PremiumContact 6 or Bridgestone Potenza Sport is non-existent.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
The Falken ZIEX ZE320 and Maxxis Premitra HP6 sit in the same mainstream summer-touring space, but they go about performance in very different ways. Across three major 2026 tests (Auto Express, Vi Bilagare and ADAC) the Falken repeatedly scores as the more “complete” tire-strong in the areas that dominate overall rankings (especially dry braking and balanced handling), and generally calm and easy to drive.
The Maxxis HP6, meanwhile, looks like a value-focused touring tire with a sporty edge: it can generate strong lateral grip (notably in wet cornering tests) and often looks efficient on fuel/rolling resistance. The trade-off is that its results-and the tester comments-show more pronounced weaknesses in standing-water security and overall predictability/comfort, which tends to cap its overall finishing position despite some standout sub-scores.
Conclusion
On the evidence of the shared tests, the Falken ZIEX ZE320 is the better all-round summer choice. It wins every shared head-to-head overall (1st vs 4th in Auto Express, 4th vs 8th in Vi Bilagare, 5th vs 8th in ADAC) and is consistently superior in the most repeatable, safety-relevant metric here: dry braking (winning 3/3, by ~5-6% each time; e.g., 36.0 m vs 38.3 m in Auto Express and 33.9 m vs 35.8 m in ADAC). It also tends to be more composed and confidence-inspiring, with better wet handling times (e.g., 88.0 s vs 89.34 s in Auto Express) and clearly better aquaplaning resistance in Auto Express' demanding curved test (3.61 vs 3.06 m/s², a large ~18% advantage).
The Maxxis Premitra HP6 is easiest to justify when price and efficiency are priorities and your typical driving doesn't involve a lot of high-speed standing water. It repeatedly shows strong wet-circle (cornering) performance (wins 2/2 where measured: 11.5 s vs 11.66 s in Auto Express; 11.34 s vs 11.53 s in Vi Bilagare) and often better efficiency markers (Auto Express rolling resistance 7.53 vs 8.05 kg/t; Vi Bilagare fuel 5.3 vs 5.5 l/100 km). However, professional testers also flag a less harmonious balance (rear-biased, more slide-prone when pushed) and comfort/noise drawbacks, and Auto Express in particular highlights a real standing-water weakness. Practical takeaway: if you want the safest “one tire that does everything well,” pick the Falken; if you want a cheaper, grippy-feeling tire for twisty roads with good efficiency and can accept compromises in water clearance and refinement, the Maxxis can make sense.

Where this data comes from
Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tires ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tire Reviews Score rates each tire out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tires can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tire Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tires independently since 2007.
