Conclusion

The shared results favor different priorities rather than one tire in every condition. In Auto Bild's 2026 all-season test, both finish second and earn an exemplary verdict. Its 30-tire braking test puts the Pirelli second and the Vredestein sixth, using the same dry and wet braking figures as the main test. In Auto Bild Allrad's 2026 SUV test, the order reverses: the Vredestein shares second, while the Pirelli is fifth. Those rankings need the individual measurements alongside them.

The Pirelli's dry stops are about 5% shorter in Auto Bild's 225/45 R17 tests, but the SUV test finds virtually no difference. Its projected tread life is about 11% longer in the main test, with roughly 31% less measured abrasion. It also performs better in that test's aquaplaning measurements, particularly on a curve. This is not a universal aquaplaning advantage: the SUV test finds the two level in a straight line and gives the Vredestein the curved-course lead. Rolling resistance changes order between the two full tests, so neither has a consistent advantage there.

The Vredestein has the stronger case where snow braking matters. It stops about 8% shorter in Auto Bild's all-season test and about 12% shorter in Auto Bild Allrad's SUV test; it also leads both snow slaloms. Snow traction and handling are less settled, with the SUV test giving the Pirelli better traction and finding their handling speeds virtually identical. Wet braking consistently favors the Vredestein, though by only about 1% in the smaller size and 2% in the SUV size. Its lower pass-by noise also repeats. Choose the Vredestein if regular snow, wet stops and lower measured noise take priority. The Pirelli makes more sense if dry braking in the smaller size and longer tread life matter more, particularly where snow is less frequent.

The bullet points are analysis of the shared tests and of owner reviews; the measured wins in each discipline are in the tables below. Where the two disagree, the figures are right.

Wins count every measurement the shared tests recorded for both tires; a tick marks the tire ahead on that line. Subjective driver scores count as wins but are never averaged, because each test uses its own scale.

Point at or tap any spoke for both tires' figures.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 118 ft stop against 112 ft is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 96%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 2 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Averages of the figures both tires posted in the same tests. The gap is the average of each test's own gap, so figures from different cars and years are never mixed. Open a discipline for its measurements, and a measurement for every test's figure.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Great tires! In autumn and winter conditions, I found them better than the Continental TS860 in mud and snow, but worse on ice.

In summer, compared with the Continental PremiumContact 6, they offered better aquaplaning resistance, but slightly worse wet grip and overall handling. Lateral stability was by far their weakest point compared with my old Conti.

These were my first all-season tires, a bit of a gamble for me, but overall, I would recommend them. After 40,000 km over two years, they are showing some wear, so I plan to replace them by 50,000 km to stay on the safe side. My original plan was to use them for 40,000–60,000 km and less than four years.

A set of two to replace two severely unevenly worn tires on the front axle. They were the first generation Quatrac Pro with 85,000 km. The Pro 2 is a huge difference compared to (fresh) Pros of the old generation. They are much quieter, all the vibrations and weird cornering noises are gone. The design seems completely new, I have high expectations of it and will post an update in a few thousand km.

Reading the results

Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.

Three independent 2026 tests put the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 and Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 side by side: Auto Bild's all-season test, its 30-tire braking test and Auto Bild Allrad's SUV all-season test. They share second place in the main Auto Bild test. The Pirelli places higher in the braking test, while the Vredestein places higher in the SUV test. Neither is the clear overall choice across all three.

The most consistent differences are in stopping distances. The Pirelli brakes shorter in the dry in the 225/45 R17 tests, though the two are effectively level in the SUV size. The Vredestein brakes shorter in the wet and, by a much larger margin, on snow in both full tests. It is also quieter in both pass-by noise measurements. The Pirelli's clearest advantage beyond dry braking is durability: Auto Bild's main test projects a longer tread life and measures substantially less abrasion.

Where this data comes from

Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tires ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.

About the TR Score

The Tire Reviews Score rates each tire out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tires can be compared even before a test has run them together.
