Data updated
Which should you buy?
Choose the Hankook Winter I*cept Evo 4 for its consistent wet and dry braking advantage, plus better comfort and lower noise. Choose the Bridgestone Blizzak 6 if lower rolling resistance matters more; the shared tests show little separating them on snow.
Where the Blizzak 6 is stronger
- Lower rolling resistance in both full 2026 tests
- About 3% quicker wet handling in Auto Bild's 2026 winter test
- Snow results broadly level with Hankook across the full tests
Where the Winter I*cept Evo 4 is stronger
- About 3% shorter wet braking in all three shared tests
- Shorter dry braking in both full 2026 tests
- Higher comfort scores and lower pass-by noise in both full tests
Conclusion
The three shared tests favor the Hankook Winter I*cept Evo 4 overall, though the size of its lead varies. It was only one place ahead of the Bridgestone Blizzak 6 in Auto Bild's 50-set braking test, but finished two places ahead in the 20-tire winter test and won Auto Bild Allrad's ten-tire SUV test while Bridgestone came fifth. Wet braking is the strongest recurring reason to choose the Hankook: its stopping distances were about 3% shorter in every test. It also braked about 2% to 3% shorter in the dry in both full tests. Its dry handling lead was tiny in Auto Bild's main test, but clearer in the SUV test.
Not every wet result points the same way. Bridgestone was about 3% quicker in wet handling in Auto Bild's main winter test, whereas Hankook was about 1% quicker in Auto Bild Allrad's SUV test. The aquaplaning results also reversed: Bridgestone held small leads in the main test, then Hankook had a roughly 5% straight-line lead and a much larger curved-aquaplaning lead in the SUV test. Snow is much closer than the overall positions suggest. Braking differed by less than 1% in both full tests, while traction and handling gaps were generally small. Neither tire established a convincing snow advantage over the other.
Bridgestone's dependable strength is efficiency. It had lower rolling resistance in both full tests, with a particularly clear advantage in the SUV test. Hankook was rated more comfortable and measured quieter in both, and Auto Bild's main winter test projected about 6% more wear life for it. That test also gave Hankook a lower cost per kilometer, although those wear and cost results come from one test. Choose Hankook if wet and dry braking, comfort and noise matter most. Bridgestone remains a sound choice if lower rolling resistance is the priority, with closely matched snow performance and a wet-handling advantage in one of the two full tests.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

All 9 Blizzak 6 reviewsI might be one of the first people to buy Bridgestone winter tires and I've never regretted it. I used them for 2 years, and now I'm thinking of switching to all-season tires, so I'll be looking for other options. After 40,000 km, the insides of the rear tires wore out; I think it's related to the alignment and balance, so I'll be replacing them.

All 3 Winter I*cept Evo 4 reviewsA very responsive tire !
The Winter I*cept Evo 4 in size 245/40 R20 is very comfortable, which was quite surprising to me.
Its handling is incredible, as is its grip and steering precision.
I still need to see how it performs when the first signs of frost appear on the roads, as well as in snow, but so far, it's excellent. My only complaint is that it starts getting noisy at speeds above 100 km/h. That's its biggest downside so far.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
Three independent 2026 tests put the Bridgestone Blizzak 6 and Hankook Winter I*cept Evo 4 side by side: Auto Bild's winter tire test, its 50-set winter braking test and Auto Bild Allrad's SUV winter tire test. Hankook placed higher in all three, finishing third against fifth in the main winter test, fourth against fifth in braking, and first against fifth in the SUV test.
Hankook's clearest repeatable advantage is braking. It stopped shorter in the wet in all three tests and in the dry in both full tests. It also handled dry roads more quickly, although the gap in Auto Bild's main test was negligible. Bridgestone was quicker through the wet handling course in that test, but Hankook reversed the result in the SUV test.
On snow, the measured gaps were mostly small, so neither tire has a clear advantage over the other there. Bridgestone's most consistent edge is lower rolling resistance in both full tests. Hankook scored better for comfort and produced less pass-by noise in both.

Where this data comes from
Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tires ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tire Reviews Score rates each tire out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tires can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tire Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tires independently since 2007.
