200/45 R16 Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Dunlop SportMaxx RT

My previous Goodyear Eagle F1 tires where pretty stiff, offering not much of comfort. These Dunlop tires are way more forgiving, softening the bumps in the road, making the ride more comfortable. Yes, as a result, they are a little less direct, but I don't care, I'm not driving a race car to my work.
Compared to the Eagle F1 tires, I find these Dunlops more silent, although on paper the Dunlops should be 1dB louder (67dB). In my experience, these tires are very quiet.
One thing that made me drop my jaw on the floor is the amount of grip in the rain. I have never experienced so much grip in wet conditions before. Accelerating, cornering and braking in wet feels pretty much the same as in dry, it's that good!
I'm very happy with the Dunlops and there is a very big chance my next tires will be the same!

I've used these tires on my car for the last 6 years, mainly due to their cost and longevity. On track they are somewhat surprisingly good…in the dry!
They take about 3 laps to get to full potential and after about 10 laps they start to give up. Traction is good and they offer good feedback of how far you can push them without ending up having a crash. Sidewall is nice and stiff to aid cornering and they are quiet. However, in the wet, they are atrocious! Poor wet grip, locking up is very easy and it's almost like tip-toeing on ice in certain circumstances.
On the road, the wet grip is brown trousering if polite, roundabout are interesting and even exiting them can be somewhat sideways!
Dry grip on the road is fine; however I would try and get some heat into them 1st before you attempt any “spirited†driving.
Somehow I feel Yokahama spend their R&D money more on dry performance and much less on wet weather performance.
Off to try some decent Bridgestone's now!

Harsh and fast wearing. Best that can be said is that they are black and round. Will switch to Michelin Alpines as soon as they are a little more worn.
