It stops better than any other tire on wet roads and handles hydroplaning well. However, Hankook lags behind in the ice rounds. Under pressure, Hankook easily breaks into a skid with an erratic behavior that is consistent across all surfaces. On dry roads, the steering feel is vague and also lacks straight-line stability. However, it rolls more easily than the new tires and has an acceptable noise level. At the right price, this is a reasonable option for those who prioritize economy.

The Hankook Winter i pike RS2 has generally finished in the lower half of its studded winter fields, with wet-road ability more convincing than ice braking. Vi Bilagare placed it sixth of eight in 2023, when it had the shortest wet stop and third-best aquaplaning resistance. That wet braking was unusually strong against last of eight in the same publication's 2019 test. Wet handling was also first of five studded tires with Test World in 2020 and second of nine in its studded class with Teknikens Varld in 2021. Aquaplaning was best of eight with Vi Bilagare in 2019.

Winter performance is mixed within the studded class. Snow braking was second in both the 2023 Vi Bilagare test and the 2021 Teknikens Varld class, but snow traction was last of eight in 2023. Ice braking was seventh of eight in 2019, sixth of eight in 2020 and fifth of eight in 2023 with Vi Bilagare. Repeated criticism of erratic behavior near the limit and oversteer on snow or ice further qualifies occasional praise for winter grip. Dry steering was vague in 2023, and dry braking was last in the 2021 studded class.
