Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 Owner Reviews

Review this tire

What owners say summarised from 34 reviews

Wet grip and off-road traction are the clearest concerns among owners of the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20, each criticised in roughly one in three reviews. Several describe limited confidence when cornering or braking on wet roads, although a smaller group is satisfied with everyday use. Longer-term accounts more often praise tread life than criticise it, particularly with predominantly road driving, but wear varies. Quiet running and comfort receive some positive comments without broad agreement on overall performance. The one returning reviewer remained dissatisfied, which is not enough to establish a general ageing pattern.

Initial Impressions

Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 tires are only useful when you drive on a dry road. If you live in the desert southwest, never go in the rain and never go in the snow or mud they're fine. If you ever go to the mountains, in rain, sleet or snow, these tires are absolutely dangerous. Do not buy them if that's the case.
I got rid of these tires at 20,000 miles. I bought BFGoodrich KO3. They are not even in the same universe. The k03s are absolutely incredible.
The ironic thing about the k03 tire which is a million times better is there almost around the same price which I don't understand.

Abysmal.

It says all terrain, it is around town only. I got two slow leaks in 15,000kms, fortunately we were left stranded. On an Australian delivered 4WD vehicle it is totally unacceptable to fit a tire that can leave you stranded. They will puncture, not they may puncture, they will. As such I can’t understand how in good conscience they can be sold in our market. If you have this tire you should immediately change to something else. If you can’t afford to, buy a PLB/EPIRB.

On road performance was acceptable, off road performance was mediocre as best. Anything soft is a real challenge for this tire.

Spend the money and buy something decent, BFG KO3 is safe recommendation, Maxxis RAZR AT is my favorite tire for an Australian use case.

I'm running jimny stock tires on a first gen 1.6 vitara. My car isn't exactly fast and the on road traction and braking are just fine for my car. The road to my house is about 400 meters of very rough and steep offroad trail. After about 15000 km of driving the outer tread is worn way past the tread depth indicators. These tires will probably be fine for highway driving but for rough, steep uphill they got smoked pretty quick.

Assumed tires were fine as there was no issues in summer. Seem to be okay on snow but deadly on ice. Don't trust these are all season tires and don't buy them for winter. Unsafe for the road. I spun out 3x on small patches. Had to buy new tires.

Lousy tires, only good for tarmac roads.
On gravel road, no resistance to perforation, no course stability on the track.
In the sand it's even worse.
If you want to do track, throw these craps out and put in General Grabber AT3 or BF Goodrich (significantly more expensive) instead.

These tires are ZERO on Gravel Road and in the sand. Lamentable traction, rapid wear, repeated punctures. These are tires for "Sunday bushmen". RUN AWAY!!!

Have not had any adverse issues. Mostly bitumen roads with a little dry gravel. If you drive to the conditions around you, there should not be too many issues.

The tire in dry and warm weather is good, stable. As soon as the road is wet, it's bad. They skid on wet roads and the braking effect is weak! I do not recommend them, and certainly not for wet roads.

Overall a very good tire. Comfortable and not too noisy. Good wear with 70k rotated. Probably not the best in the wet

The Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 came on my 4Runner TRD off road from the factory. The tires are decent on a dry Road and that's all. They are absolutely useless on anything but a dry warm road. Rain traction is terrible, snow traction is absolutely terrible as well as ice. I live in Las Vegas Nevada we don't get snow, however, we have a ski resort 30 minutes away and went up there during a snowstorm the other day and I was literally white knuckled the whole time because I was sliding all over the place in four wheel drive with two to three inches of snow. If you are never going to venture off of dry pavement these tires are fine. If you ever go in the rain, snow or ice do not get these tires.
