Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Good on ice.
Weaknesses on snow and wet roads, highest wear, significant weaknesses on dry roads (devaluation.)
The COOPER TIRES WM-SA2+ shows clear weaknesses on dry roads, which is why it does not get more than a sufficient rating in this criterion. In addition, there are (slight) weaknesses in the wet and in the snow. When it comes to wear, the tire performs just about satisfactorily. Thus, the COOPERTIRES is at best “recommended with reservations”.

Given 76% while driving a Citroën saxo 1.4 furio (165/65 R14 T) on mostly motorways for 2,000 average miles
Great tires for that price and better than some more expensive tires from greater brands. Would buy it again!

Given 87% while driving a Rover 214 Si (175/65 R14) on a combination of roads for 2,000 easy going miles
Good all round tire, but exceptional feature is the traction delivered in both dry and wet snow and hard packed snow/ice. Got me moving every day two winters ago when everything else stood still. I didn't get stuck once and would gladly reccomend them to anyone.

Given 86% while driving a Nissan Micra (155/70 R13) on mostly country roads for 10,000 average miles
These tires made light work of all the snow and ice last winter. Couldn't believe what a difference they made to winter driving. They were very quiet and hardly wore at all in 10000 miles, so I kept them on all year. I would recommend them to anyone, they are every bit as good as some of the premium brands.

Fitted these to a 1.0 micra and they made light work of our north Scotland snow which was several inches deep at times. With these fitted it was as good as any soft roader, rav4 etc. Bit loud, but if you keep your speed down thats ok. Wouldn't have believed what a difference these tires make and would recommend them to anyone wanting a bit more winter traction on a budget.
