StrengthsThe Falken AT4W delivered the best overall driving experience with excellent on-road comfort, minimal noise, and predictable handling. It had the shortest dry braking distance and offered the most compliant, confidence-inspiring handling both off-road and in wet conditions. ConsiderationsSnow performance was the AT4W's weak point, finishing last in both snow braking and handling tests. While it had good off-road grip, it couldn't quite match the BFGoodrich's absolute traction levels. StrengthsThe BFGoodrich KO2 showed excellent grip off-road, setting the fastest dirt handling time. It performed particularly well in snow conditions, leading the snow braking test and finishing second in snow handling. The tire maintained good noise levels until higher speeds and offered strong aquaplaning resistance. ConsiderationsThe KO2's firm carcass made it harder to control through bumps and undulations, both off-road and on-road. It had the longest dry braking distance of the group and showed significant understeer in wet handling. StrengthsThe Kumho excelled in wet conditions, achieving the best wet braking and handling times. It demonstrated a sharp steering response and maintained good noise levels. The tire also offered strong grip in most conditions. ConsiderationsThe firm carcass made the ride less compliant over bumps and reduced stability during recovery from slides. It had the lowest aquaplaning resistance and scored lowest for comfort among the test group. StrengthsThe Toyo showed strong snow performance, leading the snow handling test and finishing second in snow braking. It remained quiet at moderate speeds and offered good overall comfort levels. ConsiderationsThe tire had the longest wet braking distance, finishing 11% behind the best, and showed understeer in wet conditions. It was also the most expensive tire in terms of cost per mile based on warranty. StrengthsThe Nitto demonstrated the best aquaplaning resistance in the group and showed good front-end bite off-road. It offered decent comfort levels and balanced handling characteristics in most conditions. ConsiderationsNoise was a significant issue with the Recon Grappler, being noticeable at most speeds and particularly loud during high-speed runs. It is the only tire of the group without a severe snow rating. These are calculated scenarios, not new test awards. The published verdict may reflect judgement, close results and factors outside this calculation.

Reference tires provide context only. They do not set the benchmark and cannot win the personalised ranking.
Weighting vs real impact
What decides this ranking
The weighting is how much each category counts. The real impact is how much of the difference between the tires it creates: a discipline in which every tire performed about the same barely changes the order, however much it counts.
- Dry Weighting 25% Real impact 14%
- Wet Weighting 25% Real impact 16%
- Snow Weighting 10% Real impact 17%
- Off road Weighting 20% Real impact 19%
- Comfort Weighting 15% Real impact 16%
- Value Weighting 5% Real impact 18%
- Value counts for 5% of the score but creates 18% of the difference between the tires, because their results in it were far apart.
- Dirt Handling counts for 10% of the score but creates only 3% of the difference, because most tires performed about the same in it.

How it is worked out: each discipline’s weighting is multiplied by the spread of its results (the gap across the middle half of the tires, as a percentage of the best result), then shared out so that all the disciplines add up to 100%. It estimates what separates the tires; it is not a second set of weights, and it follows the weights you set.
How your ranking is calculated
Each discipline is scored against the best non-reference tire in the full test field: best ÷ result × 100 when lower is better, or result ÷ best × 100 when higher is better. Discipline scores are rounded to two decimal places, then combined using your weights.
Within-category weights divide that category’s share of the overall score. A 50% wet category and 40% wet-braking share give wet braking 20% of the total. A weight is a scoring priority, not a measure of its actual effect on the ranking: the performance gaps matter too. What decides this ranking ↑
Published joint positions are preserved separately. Calculated positions tie only when their underlying scores match; two displayed scores can look equal after rounding.
A zero weight excludes that category or discipline. At least one active discipline is required, and the disciplines in every active category must have a positive total.
