Data updated
Which should you buy?
Choose the Michelin CrossClimate 3 if you expect regular snow or want the more even all-round balance shown in both Auto Bild group tests. Choose the Toyo Celsius AS2 if you mainly drive in rain and mild winters and want the wet-handling and aquaplaning strengths, plus the longer wear, but it is not a good match for frequent winter conditions.
Where the CrossClimate 3 is stronger
- Very strong snow performance, leading or near the top for snow braking, traction and handling in Auto Bild's 2025 and 2026 all-season tests.
- Slightly better dry performance overall, with marginally shorter dry braking in 2026 and higher dry handling speeds in both years.
- More comfortable and a touch quieter in Auto Bild's testing, with a big subjective comfort lead in 2026 and lower noise in both years.
Where the Celsius AS2 is stronger
- Stronger wet handling and aquaplaning performance in both Auto Bild all-season tests, including faster wet handling and better straight and curved aquaplaning.
- Can be excellent in wet braking, beating the Michelin by about 9% in Auto Bild's 2026 all-season test and ranking highly in the 2026 30-tire braking test.
- Longer projected wear and better running-cost scores in both Auto Bild years, with higher predicted mileage and a much better value metric.

Wins count every measurement the shared tests recorded for both tires; a tick marks the tire ahead on that line. Subjective driver scores count as wins but are never averaged, because each test uses its own scale.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Michelin CrossClimate 3
- 82%from 12 reviews
- 75%would buy again
- 189,947 milesdriven by reviewers
Across nine reviews, the Michelin CrossClimate 3 is widely praised as a highly capable all-season tire with standout comfort, low noise, and strong real-world grip in dry and wet conditions. Drivers also report impressive longevity/wear, with several noting confident handling and reassuring performance in winter climates and light-to-moderate snow. The main recurring limitation is traction and predictability on ice (and at the limit in heavier snow), where it cannot consistently match a dedicated winter tire and may feel a bit comfort-biased rather than sporty.
- High ride comfort
- Low road noise/quiet on most surfaces
- Strong wet-road performance (grip and aquaplaning resistance)
- Good all-season versatility across wide temperature ranges
- Ice grip is only moderate and trails dedicated winter tires
- Not a sporty tire (softer feel/less sharp than summer performance tires)
- Can feel less secure at the limit in heavier snow conditions

All 12 CrossClimate 3 reviewsWho is reading this review it should know that they are bad in wet condition. I tought that beacause is Michelin they will be great but they are not. In dry they are good but in wet they are losing traction and understeer very easy. I don’t have a powerfull car, is only 120hp. I will not buy this tires again. There are better choices than Michelin at least in the segment of all season
Toyo Celsius AS2
- 82%from 6 reviews
- 83%would buy again
- 25,800 milesdriven by reviewers
Drivers report the Toyo Celsius AS2 tire delivers a notably comfortable, quiet ride with strong wet-road security and good resistance to aquaplaning. Most users also find dry grip solid and winter/snow capability surprisingly competent for an all-season, with only minor impacts on fuel economy. A recurring trade-off is a softer, more comfort-oriented feel that can come across as slightly spongy or less sharp in handling compared with sportier summer tires.
- High comfort/ride quality
- Low road noise
- Strong wet grip and stability
- Good resistance to aquaplaning
- Softer, less sporty steering/handling feel (slightly spongy)

All 6 Celsius AS2 reviewsThis is just my initial review of them after around 1K miles, I've fitted these on my girlfriend's car since both her summer and winter sets were getting long in the tooth. The car doesn't get driven that much, and when it does it's mostly through town so I swallowed my tire snobbery and decided all-seasons would be a good fit. I didn't get to test them in the snow however so far they've been really good in both wet and dry but what surprised me the most was the ride quality and the (lack of) noise. Fuel consumption doesn't seem to be affected that much either. I got a really good deal on them, less than €60/tire, when most of the midrange competition is priced at 70 and above so I'm really happy with the purchase. Made in Japan too.

Previous generation: Michelin CrossClimate 2 vs Toyo Celsius AS2 (10 shared tests)
Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
These two all-season tires have been compared head to head in four independent tests, Auto Bild's all-season tests in 2025 and 2026, plus Auto Bild's 30-tire braking-only tests in 2025 and 2026.
Across the two full Auto Bild group tests, Michelin CrossClimate 3 finishes clearly higher overall, placing 7th of 15 in 2025 and 4th of 15 in 2026, while the Toyo Celsius AS2 ends up 13th and 12th. The pattern behind those results is consistent: Michelin is the more complete all-rounder thanks to strong snow and solid dry performance, while Toyo leans heavily towards wet-road ability and long life.
The braking-only tests reinforce the split. Toyo is much stronger in wet braking in 2026, but Michelin is the stronger snow performer in the full tests, and usually the steadier tire across conditions.
Conclusion
Looking at what they share, Michelin CrossClimate 3 is the tire that keeps showing up with the better balance. In Auto Bild's 2025 all-season test it is the standout on snow, leading snow braking, traction, handling and the snow circle, and it again looks very capable in 2026, with strong snow traction, handling and slalom. On dry roads Michelin is also consistently a touch stronger, with slightly shorter dry braking in 2026 and higher dry handling speeds in both years, although the margins are small.
Toyo Celsius AS2's big advantage is in the wet handling and aquaplaning metrics, where it is ahead in both Auto Bild group tests. In 2026 it also posts a very clear wet braking win over the Michelin, about 9% shorter, and Auto Bild describe it as the best all-season tire in the wet in that test. The complication is that this does not repeat in 2025, where Michelin stops around 4% shorter in wet braking even though Toyo is still quicker for wet handling and aquaplaning. So, Toyo's wet handling and water resistance look consistent, while wet braking is mixed between years.
Where Toyo gives the performance back is in snow, and it is not subtle. In both full Auto Bild tests Michelin is around 10 to 15% shorter in snow braking and clearly stronger for snow traction and handling, and Auto Bild's 2026 notes flag Toyo's snow braking as a safety concern. On comfort, Michelin also has the edge, with a much better subjective comfort score in 2026 and slightly lower measured noise in both years. Toyo's counter is running costs, it lasts longer in both years and comes out far better in Auto Bild's value metric, while Michelin is marked down for high cost per kilometer.
If you need one all-season tire to cover proper winter conditions, Michelin's repeated snow advantage and decent dry performance make it the safer, more versatile choice. If your priority is wet-road agility and aquaplaning security and you rarely see real snow, Toyo's wet-focused balance and strong longevity make sense, as long as you accept the snow limitation shown in both group tests.
