Performance Analysis

Drawn from 2 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Uniroyal RainExpert 3 performed best in wet braking and standing water in Auto Bild's 2018 summer programme, both in 195/65 R15. It placed seventh of 51 in the braking overview, then 12th of 20 in the full comparison. In the latter, wet braking was second at 34.5 meters, only 0.6% longer than the best, and straight-line aquaplaning resistance led the field at 90.1 km/h. The testers singled out both results as positives. The overview was the qualifying braking comparison for the full test, rather than a separate confirmation across another season or size.

The broader assessment was less favorable. Dry braking placed 19th of 20 at 38.7 meters, 12.2% longer than the best, while dry and wet handling were both 17th, with the testers reporting considerable understeer in each condition. Noise ranked 18th at 73.9 dB. Projected tread life was a middle-ranking 38,610 km, tenth of 20, as was cost per distance at 5.57 euros per 1,000 km; neither established a wear or value advantage. Rolling resistance placed 13th. Its short wet stopping distance and strong straight-line aquaplaning result therefore need to be weighed against weaker dry stopping, handling and noise.
