2025 ADAC All Terrain Tire Test P5 of 8

Despite its rugged appearance, the Pirelli Scorpion A/T+ is the lightest tire in the test and performs well on gravel, offering good traction and responsive steering into corners. However, this is overshadowed by a significant tendency to oversteer, where the rear of the vehicle can lose grip. While this is manageable on gravel, it becomes a safety issue on wet and snowy roads, creating difficult situations that require a skilled driver. Due to its poor performance and lack of safety on snow, the Pirelli's final score was downgraded.

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 2 tests. Updated August 2, 2026.

Across two all-terrain group tests, the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus shows a clear split personality: it is impressively precise and "sporty" on-road in the dry (and subjectively confident in mixed conditions), but it repeatedly under-delivers in snow performance despite being snow-rated. Overall results are mid-pack (average position 5th; 4/9 with a "Recommended" award in 2022, but falling to 6/9 in the dedicated 2023/24 snow test).

The most consistent pattern is strong dry handling dynamics and decent efficiency, contrasted by consistently poor snow braking/traction/handling results and some refinement drawbacks (notably external noise). Wet performance is mixed: objective wet metrics tend to be mid-pack, while subjective wet handling scored best-in-test in 2022, suggesting good driver confidence but not class-leading raw grip.

    • 2022 test snow results also weak: 6/7 snow braking (+30.8% from best), 6/7 snow traction (+37%), 6/7 snow handling (+14.1%); article states it was one of the 'slowest two tires' in snow and 'less easy to drive' with rear breakaway

The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain plus might be one of the older tires in the group, but as a mild AT tire it ticked all the boxes with a great performance in the dry, acceptable in the wet, and a very low rolling resistance. It wasn't the best off road in terms of grip, but wasn't a million miles off and it was subjectively an enjoyable tire to drive on. We liked the character of this tire, and if aggressive looking shoulders are your thing, this was one of the meatier ones.
