The Pirelli Cinturato WeatherActive finished sixth. It was the quietest tire in the test and easy to drive in the wet, with a safe, Michelin-like balance, but it was disappointing in the snow compared to my previous test of the Scorpion version, and it lacked a little wet grip on average. A good choice for drivers who put comfort first and see little snow.

Across two all-weather group tests, the Pirelli Cinturato WeatherActive shows a split personality: it can be a standout in certain winter-critical metrics (notably ice braking and snow traction), yet it is inconsistent elsewhere-especially in dry performance and several snow handling/circle measures. This mixed balance still translated into a headline result (1st overall in the 2025 Car and Driver all-weather test), but it also produced a mid-pack finish in the larger Tire Rack field (5th of 11), suggesting its strengths are more condition- and test-metric-dependent than universally dominant.

Pattern-wise, the tire's best performances cluster around longitudinal winter grip (ice braking and snow traction), while dry braking and subjective dry handling repeatedly lag. Wet performance is variable: very strong wet braking in one test contrasts with mid-pack wet braking/handling and relatively weak wet circle in the other, indicating that wet grip/feel is not as consistently elite as its best winter highlights.

The Pirelli Cinturato WeatherActive provides a refined and comfortable daily driving experience, with one of the quietest and most composed rides in the test, complemented by natural and responsive steering. Its wet performance is solid, particularly its braking, though lateral grip could be improved. In the dry, it feels less predictable at the limit, making emergency maneuvers a challenge. It redeems itself in winter with confident straight-line snow traction and the best ice braking in the test, though cornering grip isn't as impressive.

2025 Car and Driver All Weather Tire Test

The Cinturato WeatherActive emerged as the overall winner despite being the most affordable option at $219. It delivered exceptional dry performance with the most responsive and direct steering feel, making it incredibly easy to manage around the autocross track. The Pirelli also performed impressively in wet conditions (finishing a close second), offered a comfortable ride quality absorbing road imperfections well, and maintained respectable snow performance. Its V-formation directional tread pattern similar to Michelin's design likely contributed to its balanced year-round performance, proving you don't need to sacrifice everyday driving comfort when choosing an all-weather tire.
