The Nokian WR SUV 4 has shown stronger snow results and low rolling resistance alongside more limited wet handling and aquaplaning resistance. Auto Bild Allrad 2018 placed it sixth of ten overall, with first-place snow handling and second-place snow braking. Auto Zeitung 2021 put snow braking second of ten, just 0.7% behind the best, but straight-line aquaplaning last. Rolling resistance was third there and fourth in both Auto Bild comparisons.
There are unusual differences in braking and snow performance. Auto Zeitung 2021 measured third-place dry braking, contrasting with long dry stops criticised by Auto Bild in 2018 and 2021. Auto Bild's 2021 snow braking and traction were both eighth of 11, despite positive snow wording, an unusual reversal from the stronger 2018 and Auto Zeitung results. Its aquaplaning was last in both straight and curved tests in 2021, against fifth of 11 on the straight in 2018. Wet handling stayed in the lower half across all three comparisons. External noise was third at Auto Zeitung and fifth in both Auto Bild tests, with low noise praised in 2021. The snow praise is therefore qualified by variation, while standing-water performance is a recurring concern.
