Michelin Pilot Sport 3 PS3 Reviews - Page 11

Given 96% while driving a Ford Fiesta ST (205/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Awesome tires ! Never experienced grip this good before ! When driving in the rain I notice no loss of grip whereas with my previous new tires the car slid during fast cornering. The car used to lean when cornering which I assumed was the suspension but with the PS3s' it takes cornering at warp speed to lean as the tires have such great shoulders....it just grips ! Placed different tires on the back and became a drifter round fast corners and on wet roads so just put PS3s'on back to match the front and car is incredibly fun to drive. Best tires for Fez and if you buy through F1 using the price promise and apply for the Michelin fuel card when on offer you get premium tires for lower mid-range cost !

Given 93% while driving a BMW 520d M Sport (245/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 36,000 average miles
Excellent performance. My front tires did 36,000 miles and rear did 18,000 on a rear wheel drive car. £175 fitted at Kwikfit online. Easily recommend.

Certainly no r-compound but still pretty good around Nordschleife.

Given 91% while driving a Subaru Impreza (205/50 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 9,000 spirited miles
Great tires bought them to replace the continentals on my subaru and they hold the road alot better in wet and dry.
i've only ever had them let go once and that was at 95mph on a greasy slight left on a crest but the gripped back to the road immediately once the cars weight got back over them and straightened up nicely with no dramas.
Only downside is price as for me they were alot of money but i don't think your only contact patch with the road is an area you should skimp on and that where the sidewall meets the edge of the tread the tire seems to wear quickly there if you do alot of hard fast cornering

Given 66% while driving a Audi A1 (215/45 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 23,000 easy going miles
Original michelins only lasted 15,000 miles on the front. Friend has same car with goodyears and has 22,000 and still plenty of wear left on the front.

Tires swopped front to rear when new tires fitted at 15k and these then lasted to 23,500miles.

Replaced with dunlops and improved comfort and better handling all round. I could not locate goodyears at time of purchase.

Given 84% while driving a Skoda Octavia vRS (225/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
A worthy replacement for the standard Continental SportContact 3's that the car came with.

These have a bit more wet bias and slightly more complaint ride and less noise.

Overall, an excellent all-round real-world sporty choice.

This proved it's worth on my Skoda vRS when my wife had to do an emergency brake & swerve in the wet at 50mph to avoid someone pulling out in front. No loss of control and my wife now won't hear of anything else on the car! According to the tire fitter this is the Hampshire Police tire of choice on their fleet of Skoda's (traffic & local cars).

Given 80% while driving a Honda Civic (225/45 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 60,000 average miles
Ran these to replace the PS2s on Civic 2.2EX when purchased, was getting between 14 and 20k miles out of them but mainly motorway cruising. Satisfied but as a premium tire they should do a good job

Given 66% while driving a Audi A4 Avant S Line (143) (245/40 R18) on mostly motorways for 14,000 average miles
Replaced with PS3s to match the existing ones after changing the car. At first very pleased with the reduction in road noise and handling both in wet and dry conditions.
I drive mostly motorway journeys both here and on the continent easily with a view to my fuel consumption.
As the tires have worn, the road noise has increased, but the grip seems to have stayed.
I've now done 14k with these tires and the fronts need changing again, the rears don't seem to have worn very much at all.
I won't be replacing with PS3s but looking for something that wears better.

Given 74% while driving a Jaguar XF (225/45 R18) on mostly country roads for 35,000 spirited miles
Good performance in dry and wet. BUT VERY LOUD. Changed from OEM pirellis and the Tire noise was so loud that I almost gave them back to the dealer. tire wear is excellent. I have done 25000 miles and there is still tread on all 4 tires. Side walls are tough- have hit the curb a couple of times- no damage. The deal breaker is absolute lack of grip in snow. Was stuck 100 yards from home last year with the first snow. nothing more scary than a heavy rear wheel drive car doing a pirouette at a junction.
