Continental Sport Contact 3 Owner Reviews
Review this tireWhat owners say summarised from 197 reviews
Drivers generally describe the Continental Sport Contact 3 as a strong-performing UHP summer tire with confident handling, strong braking, and notably good wet-road grip with good resistance to aquaplaning. The most consistent complaint is rapid tread wear (especially on front axles/FWD cars), with many also reporting higher road noise/firm ride and premium pricing. A smaller but recurring theme is tramlining/steering pull on certain cars or as the tire wears, and some note wet/cold performance can deteriorate later in the tire's life.

In general these tires really suit the car and provide great grip both in the dry and wet. I am amazed at how well the grip the road even with this amount of power.....they barely skip at all in wet or dry.
As i said i am on my second set and don't intend to change my tire choice anytime soon....although i hear the Sport Contact 5 is now out...hmmmmmmm

Rear tires (245/40) - the third set just ditched. In a word, I had to replace them everytime (more due to legality I must admit) I had a spin in snow. Utterly useless tires at a very high price!
Can't really comment on the ride, grip or cornering performance as BMW are outstanding in these criteria regardless which tires you put, also can't talk about the noise levels as everything seems noisy to me especially when the hood is down. However I am impressed in the speed and stability when the worn-out rear tires went into corners at relatively high speed. The grip was okay and they still gave me the confidence to put my foot on the accelerator on the apex. I probably won't replace them if they were still legal and will pass my MOT. In heavy rain though, it's displacing water rather poorly.
After reading comments on this site I have decided to opt for something better and cheaper!

never had any complains on grip in both dry and wet conditions (180kmph in rain in Germany - no hint of skidding)
very good at not losing balancing with wear
minuses:
- (obviously) not good in mud/snow/deep water
- noisy (but not worse than other 225/45 R17 tires I tried yet)
- relatively expensive (price/milage, among high other performance tires)
the only reason Im considering something else as a replacement is that I'd like to try other tires with better (reported) fuel economy/noise characteristics
