What is a Ultra High Performance tire?

Ultra High Performance tires are the enthusiast's road tire - the fitment for hot hatches, performance saloons and fast estates. They prioritize steering response and grip, accepting a little more noise and wear than a touring tire.

All Weather tires are all season tires with a winter bias: year-round tires that carry the 3PMSF severe snow marking and hold up in a proper winter, at some cost in warm weather sharpness.

Been driving Vredestein Quatrac Pro XL 255/45/R19 on Audi A6 Allroad 3.0TDI C7 since 05/2024. Rear tires are good, low wear, but front tires are completely worn. During car tech exam just few days ago, I was told I should replace front tires as the inner section of both left and right tires were completely worn and slick. Wearing of the inner section of the tire might be related to the Audi quattro drivetrain (famous for it), but the fact is that this car is very heavy on the front.

On dry roads, tires are fine, I don't notice anything. This winter (2026), I had to drive up the hill on the motorway for few miles and it drove without any problems, was driving around 80-90km/h. Also, when the car got berried in snow (as it was parked next to the main road) in the moutainous region, after showelling a bit, I was able to get out with full grip. So, snow condition - awesome. However, wet condition is what really worries me and it's caused by the wear. I noticed that car tends to slip while starting if the wheel is turned. Also, last year during mild Winter on the wet road in the city, I almost had a crash as when I hit breaks, car just started sliding for 30-40 meters. Absolutely no idea how or why as this happened in the city center. Aquaplaning is good with these tires, they really bite into the water.

Also, tires are loud while driving, even though I have acoustic windshield and side glasses. I used to have Michelin CrossClimate and CrossClimate+ on the older car and they were really quiet.

I'm not going to order Vredestein tires again for this car. There are better tires on the market. They might be good for someone who goes to snow/icy areas a lot, but I just drive on dry and wet roads throughout the year, so they're not so good for me.

Fantastic all season tire. Always felt secure although moving off on ice made the tire scrabble, moderating my driving to the conditions sorted this. Over 27k miles driven & still loads of tread (av 3 fronts, 6 rears). VW Taigo a fairly light car though. Mixed roads & long trips & all conditions. Better than Bridgestone A/s on previous car (Kia Ceed) which cupped & wore badly. Personally feel the asymetric tread pattern is superior. Comfortable & quiet tire.

I swapped the dunlop tires on my 2023 wrx for these. I live in upstate New York. They lasted about 30000 miles which was disappointing. At the end of the life of the tires I was slipping on wet and ice frequently, which led me to get a set of wintrac pro tires.

I bought the car with these tires factory fitted and replaced front pair as they were worn after 50K km. If I could turn back time I'd rather buy 4 summer tires and later 4 winter. I thought the car wasn't handing good because of the front worn tires but after installation of the new ones it's still not the best. When the car is parked for a couple of days the rubber will deform causing vibration. Recently when the temperature dropped below 0*C the tail wants to go sideways whenever there is a trace of a frost on the corner. I don't know are these rear tires aged so badly?

all weather just of the name. they were strong on wet, decent on dry, even when cold, but on snow they were such bad as regular summer tire. no braking, no grip, no up hill moving. bad.
average wear, pretty loud, wouldn't buy again

These came fitted with the car, all in all positively unintrusive. On snow covered roads it's alright, if you adjust your speed accordingly.
Snow traction was quite good in a 2 tonne all wheel driven XC60.
The biggest issue was that if the vehicle started to slip the recovery time was just atrocious. Even just feathering the brakes they would lock up once traction loss occurred.
As an all season tire in milder climates it's surely quite good but in the region I live in, I'm going to change for the Hankook icept Evo 3 X's for the next winter.
I wasn't able to thoroughly test them in Hot/Summer Weather though, as they were swapped for Summer wheels, when temperatures reached 20° C they seemed pretty grippy and stable though.

Vredestein Quatrac Pro 205-40-17- Ford Fiesta ST200 9,000 miles February 28, 2025
Below is my initial review, but after 9,000 miles, my opinion has changed significantly.

Initially, these tires felt like a great all-season alternative for mild climates, offering strong dry and wet grip with progressive handling—almost like summer tires but with a winter safety net. Comfort, noise, and rolling resistance were acceptable. However, things have taken a drastic turn.

Grip has fallen off a cliff—dry performance is now just average, while wet grip has become outright poor. The Fiesta ST is known for its playful chassis and easy to obtain liftoff oversteer. However now this tires go straight into understeer followed by massive oversteer and either the ESC or the driver fighting to keep the car in a composed line, while all this is happening at 25mph. In winter conditions, they remain marginally better than a summer tire, enough to get you out of trouble on flat terrain most likely purely down to its tread pattern, but nothing more. Surprise? In hindsight, not really. Despite minimal visible wear, they have a tread wear rating of 420, which likely explains this disappointing drop-off. They just hardened and it feels that they were all grip to start with, now purely focusing on tread longevity. For an all-season tire, this level of change over three years is frustrating. Never experienced anything like this with any of my other all-season winter options in my other cars (Bridgestone, Michelin, Pirelli).

I'll need to replace them soon, even though they still look fresh. As I don't need to drive this car frequently anymore during winter months, I'll be reverting to a single UHP summer setup (Pilot Sport 5).
Downgrading my rating and recommendation accordingly.

Vredestein Quatrac Pro 225-55-18- Subaru 2.0 Crosstrek 30 miles January 23, 2025
This is a final update to me review from a long time ago. In the end I am very disappointed with the short life of the tire. After 30.000 kms of using it on a light AWD suv with easy driving, no towing, with rotations every 5k kms, proper inflation, these tires are down to a hair above 3mm. Because I drive a lot in Austria where for 5 winter months tires must be at least a 4mm deep, it is time to retire them in the middle of the winter. Otherwise, they have performed well and are in the good shape with an even wear. I have them on another Subaru but with only 20.000 kms on the clock they are OK. I will not get them again. In fact the replacement is Nexen N'blue 4season 2. Promises to be as good as Vredestein but should last much longer. (If I only drove in Germany where there are no 4mm restrictions they would probably lasted through the Summer and another 5k kms.

Had a full set fitted to my remapped Skoda Rapid space SE sport 1.6tdi. Been running Goodyear Asymmetric 6's. Which were much better than the Continental's it came with.
Thought I'd go with an all season tire this time . So far done 500 miles and they are exceeding my expectations. They are as comfortable ride as the Goodyear's. Possibly even better . Mpg seems not too bad just done a trip of 80 miles. On combination of motorway and A road's got 59.8 mpg. Weather was a bit mucky and cold average temp on the trip was 5'c tire's felt good very safe feeling..
