Giti GitiSport S2 plus vs Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6
The interesting twist is that Giti isn't simply “the cheaper, worse option.” In the 245/45 R19 braking-focused testing, the GitiSport S2 plus repeatedly posts very competitive stopping distances, even edging the Goodyear by small margins in both dry and wet braking. The real separation happens once you look beyond straight-line braking into wet cornering stability, aquaplaning behaviour, refinement and long-run ownership costs-areas where the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 builds a clearer advantage.

Test Results
Independent comparison tire tests are the best source of data to get tire information from, and the good news is there have been three tests which compare both tires directly!
| Tire | Test Wins | Performance |
|---|---|---|
| Giti GitiSport S2 plus | one | |
| Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 | two |
While it might look like the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is better than the Giti GitiSport S2 plus purely based on the higher number of test wins, tires are very complicated objects which means where one tire is better than the other can be more important in real world use.
Let's look at how the two tires compare across multiple tire test categories.
Key Strengths
- Strong straight-line braking in 245/45 R19 tests: 34.3 m dry vs 34.5 m (Goodyear) and 27.2 m wet vs 27.5 m in the braking-only comparison
- Competitive all-round showing in AutoBild (4th/20), matching subjective dry and wet handling scores (8/10) despite lower brand positioning
- Good straight-aquaplaning result in the SUV test (85.3 km/h vs 84.8 km/h), showing decent resistance in that specific metric
- Value proposition: marginally better “value” score in AutoBild (12.2 vs 12.22 Price/1000), delivering high performance at a typically lower purchase cost

I have now had the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5's, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports, Michelin PS4 and even some Avon's (for a brief period) on my current car - a Golf GTI Clubsport 40.
I mix up my driving a lot - lots of motorway driving but also lots of hard street driving and B road blasts, I find it massively important to have the best tires possible to allow me to push my car as hard as I can in a safe manner.
I was massively impressed with the Asymmetric 5's, the sheer grip... Continue reading this review using the link below
Conclusion
The Giti GitiSport S2 plus is best understood as a value-driven performance tire that can deliver impressive braking for the money in certain conditions and sizes-AutoBild and the 52-tire braking test both show it slightly ahead in dry braking (34.3 m vs 34.5 m) and also narrowly ahead in wet braking in those datasets (e.g., 27.2 m vs 27.5 m). However, results are more size/test dependent, and the SUV test highlights the risk: earlier loss of grip in the wet, limited reserves, and a large wet braking deficit. The practical takeaway is simple: if you want consistent wet-cornering confidence, lower noise, lower energy use, and longer tread life, the Goodyear is the better bet; if your priority is maximum performance-per-dollar and your driving is less demanding in heavy rain, the Giti can be a compelling alternative-but it's less universally reassuring.
Key Differences
- Wet braking can separate dramatically depending on application: in the SUV test Goodyear stops ~6.7 m shorter (53.4 m vs 60.1 m), a meaningful safety gap; in 245/45 R19 tests Giti is marginally shorter (42.5 vs 42.9 m; 27.2 vs 27.5 m)
- Wet cornering and control favour Goodyear overall: it wins wet circle in both major tests and is clearly faster in SUV wet handling (87.8 vs 83.8 km/h)
- Aquaplaning is nuanced: Goodyear is stronger in curved aquaplaning (e.g., 3.97 vs 3.6 m/s² in AutoBild), while Giti narrowly leads straight aquaplaning in the SUV test (85.3 vs 84.8 km/h); the Goodyear is also noted as weaker in straight-line aquaplaning within the SUV group context
- Comfort and noise advantage Goodyear: 71.7 vs 67.0 dB in the SUV test and a higher comfort score in AutoBild (8.0 vs 6.7)
- Rolling resistance and fuel/EV efficiency favour Goodyear in both datasets (7.24 vs 7.68 kg/t; 8.33 vs 8.99 kg/t), implying lower energy consumption over time
- Longevity is a major differentiator: AutoBild projects 63,830 km for Goodyear vs 50,020 km for Giti (+27.6%), which can outweigh a higher purchase price

Footnote
This page has been developed using tire industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tires in the same test.
Why is this important? Tire testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tire test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tire tests performed on different days or at different locations.
As a result you will see other tests on Tire Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.
Lots of other websites do this sort of tire comparison, Tire Reviews doesn't.
