The Yokohama iceGUARD iG52c finished 14th of 17 in the 2020 Consumer Reports North America Winter Tire Test. Its clearest strengths were snow handling and braking on ice, both rated Excellent by the testers. Those findings support its ability on winter surfaces, but come from one comparison rather than a repeated pattern.
Wet performance was the main weakness: both wet braking and wet handling received Poor ratings, described as being at the bottom of the field. The tester also found it loud. These reservations outweighed the favorable snow and ice verdict in the overall result.
