Wanli S1088 Owner Reviews
Review this tireWhat owners say summarised from 84 reviews
The Wanli S1088 draws recurring criticism for wet grip and road noise, each raised in roughly two fifths of the 84 reviews. Dry grip is much more often praised than criticised, and a minority favor its low price, but these positives do not resolve the wet-road complaints. Around one in ten reviews also describes vibration, while smaller numbers mention poor steering feedback or abrupt grip loss. The reviews come from 81 owners, including three repeat contributors whose continued dissatisfaction is not evidence of a shared ageing pattern. Although tread life often receives praise, 75 reviews lack a stage of use and none is identified as end-of-life, limiting any general durability claim.

Now I could completely advise you to steer clear of these tires but and heres the but they have worked brilliantly over the really bad months during winter. I watched others slip and slide while these babies kept me rolling. Thanks to the snow/ice and general wet weather it masked the road noise they produce.
It is now April though and thankfully the snows gone. The noise though is louder than ever. If you've ever been in a Army land rover then you will recognize the noise that is made. This is also converted into some unwanted vibration aswell. I suppose and if you can afford it I would remove these tires and keep till Winter, in the meantime get some low noise ones. Which I think I'm going to have to do.

My father was convinced I would be killed within a week but after doing over 30,000 miles in them I am still here to tell the tale. The rear tires now need replacing but the fronts still have around 3mm of tread left on them which is pretty good after all those miles (my car is rear wheel drive). "Yes" they grip better in the dry than in the wet but so would a £800 set of tires.
In my opinion as long as you don't drive like a muppet these tires will do the job like any other.
For all those who has problems with these tires may I suggest you either get some more driving lessons or buy a proper car like mine!!

Wanli death traps. Ive taken these off and given to the tire company and cut through the side walls so no one can use these as runners or part worn. Seriously these are going to cause an accident...

No comment on wear as I swapped them off after only 1000 miles due to the fact I considered them dangerous. How tires as bad as this can be sold legally is beyond me, they are an accident waiting to happen.
