The Triangle IceLynx TI501 presents a puzzling contradiction, being a studded tire with virtually non-existent ice grip that performs worse than even worn friction tires on slippery surfaces. Ice braking distances are more than double those of the best performers, making it genuinely dangerous on winter roads, while snow performance is only marginally better with the tire struggling to maintain grip in corners despite adequate straight-line traction. Surprisingly, the tire redeems itself on asphalt with the shortest braking distances in the test, particularly excelling on wet surfaces, though it suffers from severe understeer and reluctance to change direction quickly. The one saving grace is exceptionally low road noise with a smooth, homogeneous sound character free from disturbing resonances or frequencies.

The Triangle IcelynX TI501 finished seventh of eight in Vi Bilagare's 2025 studded winter comparison, with severe ice-grip weaknesses despite leading asphalt braking results. Ice braking was last at 25.48 m, 121.8% longer than best, meaning more than twice the stopping distance. Ice traction was also last, 90.8% from best, and ice handling last, 15% slower. The testers strongly criticised its ice capability. Snow performance was less extreme but still below the leading tires, with sixth-place braking and handling and seventh-place traction.

Dry and wet braking were the clear exceptions, both first of eight at 44.3 m and 43.25 m respectively. That did not extend to handling: subjective dry handling was last and wet handling seventh, with severe understeer and reluctance to change direction noted by the testers. Noise was another positive, lowest at 72.6 dB, with a smooth sound free of intrusive resonances described in the write-up. Fuel consumption was highest at 6.7 l/100 km. These results come from one test in 235/60 R18, so the asphalt braking and noise strengths have not been repeated across tests. Within this winter comparison, they sat alongside much weaker ice performance and imprecise cornering behavior.
