Michelin CrossClimate+ Owner Reviews
Review this tireWhat owners say summarised from 110 reviews
Owners rate the Michelin CrossClimate Plus highly overall (82% average), most often praising its confident wet grip and strong snow traction, backed up by notably long tread life. Many also find it comfortable and generally quiet on the motorway, with dry grip and braking described as very secure for an all-season tire. The main caveat is winter extremes: ice performance is more mixed, and a small minority report that grip can drop off as the tire wears.

Massive improvement over the Goodyear Efficient Grip (Summer Tires) they replaced. Much quieter, car felt more planted on the straights and less understeer in the bends.
They were a lot more usable than the Goodyear Ultragrip 9 snow tires of winter which never made the car feel that good in snow and general winter driving in the cold and dry.
Wet grip was a vast improvement and stopped really well in an emergency, when previous tires wouldn't have.
Been fine on frosts down to -5c.
Snow due in the next couple of weeks, quietly confident after watching reviews.
A little concerned about snow braking as there are hardly any test reviews out there.
So far so good, update due after the snow.

Then the second year it transformed completely, it is practically useless.
Also dissapointed at he uneven wear, which results in droning and discomfort. Will not buy again.

Last year in August 2018 I bought a 2012 Audi a6 avant when the tires needed changing in October 2018 I put on a set of 225/55/17 XL, crossclimate cause of past experience. We had very little snow in that winter but quite dry and often wet at times. A slight bit noisy tire but could live with that, dry grip was good, damp road grip was ok, but as for very wet roads with puddles Aguaplaining was a nightmare.
The car was not in control very dangerous, the only way you were in control was doing 20 to 30 mph.
Motorway driving in the rain was dangerous if you came across surface water. I am disappointed to say that I will not be putting another set on the audi, shame cause I thought I had a reliable tire for all year round back to the drawing board for the car for tires, but the work van will keep on it.
And before anyone asks yes traction tire pressure, was checked and perfect, just could be a wider tire on car but 225 tires are pretty normal size for today.
That's my view on Michelin crossclimate tires from a high mileage ireland driver. 16/10/2019.

No major complaints. Handles great all around. Last for a long while, too. Only thing I will say that's a negative is that they tend to take a while to slow down on dry roads which means you need to hit the anchors sooner or harder. Not such a bad thing, though, very responsive.

I rotate the tires every four or five months and have an annual four wheel alignment check carried out so to conclude, the Subaru symmetrical all wheel drive system paired with the Michelin Cross Climate tires make a formidable combination.

Last few years I decided to give the CrossClimate a run, and nearly 2.5 years and 16k later, I think the CrossClimate tires are perfect for N. Ireland weather. We have lots of wet weather, some snow, and plenty of ice.
Dry handling is perfectly fine, no problems with confidence, as is usual with Michelin.
Having just changed the car, I will likely be getting CrossClimates fitted in October/November to replace the factory fit Nexens.

I bought the car last summer, so this was my first winter with this car and I had Nexen Winguard Winspikes on for the start of the winter since those were the winter tires the old owner provided. As the old tires had enough tread, I didn't really see a reason to buy new ones, so I decided to go with those. Honestly, driving has never been as terrifying as it was with Nexens! My car was fishtailing like crazy even on slightly wet roads, not to even talk about snowy roads - the car was literally squirming, something it had never done before when I had summer tires on and drove on not-so-decent conditions during the summer. The Nexens really made me think for a second that my car is to blame - why else would it be so terrifying to drive in the winter with WINTER tires? And by the way, that happened even within city limits, driving with 50km/h speed. The car was so unstable on the road that even stability control kicked in constantly.
I've driven with plenty of Mercedes in my life, so I knew the problem couldn't really be the car. So, I decided to get rid of the tires and buy something that would also eliminate the need to constantly change tires - I went for the best option I could find for my car's rims and I opted for the CC+ tires. I was quite skeptical about this choice though at first since I had always driven with studded winter tires before, these are my first ever all-season tires. I really didn't think all-season tires could be superior to winter tires since theoretically, their performance should be somewhat average.
However, getting these tires was the BEST DECISION EVER! I never in my life imagined that tires could make such a massive difference since before I had always driven with average/decent tires but jumping from Nexen's to Michelin really made all the difference. I've now driven with the CC+ tires for a few weeks and within that time I've driven more than I drove with Nexen's within several months since with Nexen's I literally avoided driving as much as I could. After doing the switch, driving has been just thoroughly enjoyable again (exactly like it was during summer), even so enjoyable that now I basically drive every single day just for the fun of driving. The weather isn't better at all - just last week I had to drive through a snow storm. By now I've driven with these tires on:
- icy roads
- fresh snow
- 10-15cm snow
- sleet
- damp roads
- dry roads
- roads with tons of water, extremely high risk of aquaplaning (imagine very bumpy roads after heavy rain)
The weather in Estonia is so unpredictable you really can't ever know what the weather will be like. For instance, during a 200-kilometer drive one day, I drove through fresh snow, ice, sleet, rain, aquaplaning and dry roads. The car was as stable and smooth as if the roads were completely dry all the time. CC+ tires made the car exactly as stable as it was before icy-snowy wintertime and driving is just pure enjoyment, no matter what the roads are like. These tires really brought back my driving confidence and I'd even go as far as to say that these tires are superior to my previous summer tires Goodyear Eagle's.
For me, these tires are really the best tires I've ever had. If you need tires that can handle any road conditions, to make your car stable, smooth and perfect to drive no matter what the road is like, these are the tires to get.
