The BEST High Mileage All Season Tires in 2026 Tested P3 of 5

The Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 2 finished third and is the most relaxed tire in this test. It was second only to the Continental in wet braking, wet handling and dry handling, shared the highest comfort score, and was my pick for subjective noise across the surfaces I drove. It is the least sporty of the five, slower to react and slower to build turning force, but its mid-corner grip and stability in the wet were excellent and it carried on where other tires were skating through standing water. The problem is snow, where it was last in both braking and traction. If you want comfort and wet security and you do not see real winter weather, it is an excellent tire.

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 2 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

Comfort and low noise are the clearest strengths of the Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 2 across two tests. It shared the highest comfort score and was the subjective noise favorite in the 2026 Tire Reviews high-mileage all-season comparison, finishing third of five with a Highly recommended award. Tire Rack's November 2025 comparison also placed comfort and noise first within its six-tire all-season class, which it led overall. Tire Reviews ranked wet braking and handling second of five, with gaps of 1.9% and 0.9%; dry handling was second, only 0.2% off the quickest lap.

Snow performance was weaker in both comparisons. Tire Reviews placed snow braking and traction last, 22.4% and 35.8% behind the best respectively, while Tire Rack ranked snow braking and handling fifth of six within the all-season class. Wet results were less strong at Tire Rack, with braking fourth and handling third in class, an unusual contrast with the clearer 2026 wet-road praise. Steering verdicts also differ: Tire Rack described balanced responses, whereas Tire Reviews found it soft off center and slow to build cornering force. Rolling resistance was last in the 2026 field. These results favor relaxed touring and refinement more clearly than snow ability or sharp steering; the high-mileage test title does not establish measured tread life.
