Giti GitiSport S2 plus vs Vredestein Ultrac Pro

This is a particularly interesting head-to-head because both the Giti GitiSport S2 plus and Vredestein Ultrac Pro sit in the max-performance summer category, yet the shared tests paint two very different personalities: one tire repeatedly scores for refinement and efficiency, while the other keeps surprising on pure braking value and longevity.

Across three 2026 tests (including a large 52-tire braking shootout and two 245/45 R19 vs 255/45 R19 group tests), the Vredestein most consistently looks like the “premium all-rounder” on paper-especially in wet grip balance, noise and rolling resistance. The Giti, however, isn't a simple budget compromise: in the 245/45 R19 Autobild test it finishes a strong 4th/20 and beats the Vredestein on wet braking and projected wear/cost efficiency, showing real upside when conditions and sizing suit it.

While it might look like the Giti GitiSport S2 plus is better than the Vredestein Ultrac Pro purely based on the higher number of test wins, tires are very complicated objects which means where one tire is better than the other can be more important in real world use.

Let's look at how the two tires compare across multiple tire test categories.

Key Strengths

  • Strong value proposition (lower cost/1000: 12.2 vs 15.2) with high finishing position in Autobild (4th/20)
  • Very competitive wet braking in 245/45 R19 tests (42.5 m vs 45.0 m; 27.2 m vs 28.8 m)
  • Better projected wear/mileage (50,020 km vs 42,100 km)
  • Good loose-surface traction highlights in SUV test (gravel traction 10,606 N; grass traction 2,584 N)
  • More consistent wet performance and safety margins overall, especially in SUV test (wet braking 51.9 m vs 60.1 m; better wet handling and wet circle)
  • Lower rolling resistance across tests (6.92 vs 7.68 kg/t; 7.65 vs 8.99 kg/t), supporting efficiency
  • Quieter and more comfortable (e.g., 69.1 vs 71.7 dB; higher subjective comfort 7.3 vs 6.7)
  • Strong dry performance baseline, including best dry braking in all shared tests (34.2 m vs 34.3-34.5 m) and top-tier dry handling capability

Best Review for the Vredestein Ultrac Pro
Given 97% 245/40 R18 on a combination of roads for 300 spirited miles
I do a lot of research when I buy tires , I looked all around for a premium summer tire which would be suitable for my driving style, and for the condition of the roads in my country - Eastern Europe. I looked at the PilotSport 5, ContiSportContact 7 , Eagle F1 Assymetric - all of which have a very high rating overrall, but I felt that they weren't suitable for the road conditions - lots of bumps ,cracks on the roads, patches and lets never forget about the potholes. They say the PS5 doesn't really absorb much of the bumps and has a low aquaplaning score, which doesn't do the job for me. I... Continue reading this review using the link below

Conclusion

If you want the safer, more rounded high-performance experience with day-to-day polish, the Vredestein Ultrac Pro is the clearer choice on balance. In the 255/45 R19 SUV summer test it is miles ahead overall (2nd/9 vs 9th/9) and builds that result on meaningful wet advantages: wet braking is 51.9 m vs Giti's 60.1 m (about 8.2 m shorter), plus better wet handling (87.0 vs 83.8 km/h) and stronger aquaplaning margins. Add that it's repeatedly quieter (e.g., 69.1 vs 71.7 dB) and more energy-efficient (rolling resistance 6.92 vs 7.68 kg/t; also 7.65 vs 8.99 kg/t in Autobild), and it's the more “complete” tire for mixed real-world summer driving.

The Giti GitiSport S2 plus makes the strongest case for drivers prioritizing purchase price, projected mileage and outright braking value-especially in the 245/45 R19 results. It beats the Vredestein on wet braking in two of the three shared tests (42.5 vs 45.0 m in Autobild; 27.2 vs 28.8 m in the 52-tire braking test), delivers much better projected wear (50,020 vs 42,100 km), and comes out notably stronger on value (12.2 vs 15.2 price/1000). The key caution is consistency: the same tire that looks impressively “no weak area” in Autobild is described as sliding early in the wet with limited aquaplaning reserves in the SUV test-so if your driving includes heavy rain, standing water, or you're choosing SUV fitments similar to 255/45 R19, the Vredestein's broader wet safety buffer is the more dependable takeaway.

Practical takeaway: Ultrac Pro is the better all-weather-for-summer, refinement-and-efficiency pick; GitiSport S2+ is the value/longevity play that can perform brilliantly in braking-centric tests, but appears more fitment- and test- dependent in wet stability.
Key Differences
  • Wet safety gap in the 255/45 R19 SUV test is decisive: Ultrac Pro stops ~8.2 m shorter in the wet (51.9 m vs 60.1 m) and is faster in wet handling (87.0 vs 83.8 km/h).
  • GitiSport S2+ outperforms Ultrac Pro on wet braking in the 245/45 R19 datasets (42.5 vs 45.0 m; 27.2 vs 28.8 m), showing strong braking-specific capability despite weaker wet stability in the SUV test.
  • Ultrac Pro is consistently more refined and efficient: lower noise (69.1 vs 71.7 dB; 71.0 vs 71.8 dB) and lower rolling resistance (6.92 vs 7.68; 7.65 vs 8.99 kg/t).
  • Cost of ownership splits: Giti projects longer life (50,020 vs 42,100 km) and better value (12.2 vs 15.2 price/1000), while Vredestein trades mileage for efficiency/refinement.
  • Aquaplaning results are mixed by test: Vredestein leads clearly in SUV straight aquaplaning (89.3 vs 85.3 km/h), but Giti leads in Autobild aquaplaning (94.5 vs 90.4 km/h straight; 3.60 vs 3.23 m/s² curved).
  • Off-road/loose traction differs: Vredestein is much stronger on sand in the SUV test (10,147 N vs 8,296 N), while Giti is better on gravel traction (10,606 N vs 10,003 N).

Footnote

This page has been developed using tire industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tires in the same test.

Why is this important? Tire testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tire test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tire tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tire Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tire comparison, Tire Reviews doesn't.
