All Continental Tires Are Suitable for Electric Cars

Continental Tires, one of the world's leading tire manufacturers, has announced that all of its current tire lines are now suitable for use in electric cars. In fact, the company has optimized its entire tire portfolio for electric vehicles and is now marking new passenger tire lines with an EV-Compatible logo to highlight its product strategy for electric cars. This logo will be displayed on the sidewall of every tire launched on the market in Europe.

Enno Straten, Head of Strategy, Analytics and Marketing for Continental Tires EMEA, said: “We are convinced that there is no one tire for all electric vehicles. This is why we have optimized our entire tire portfolio for this drive type too. With our new EV-Compatible logo, we are making that visible. Our customers can count on the fact that tires from Continental are always the right choice – and, of course, that applies to electric cars too.”

Continental has been working on optimizing its tires for electric vehicles long before they became mainstream. The company has focused on reducing rolling resistance, rolling noise, and increasing service life without compromising on safety. These technological advances benefit all types of vehicles, but they are particularly noticeable for electric vehicles. According to the EU tire label, improving a tire's rolling resistance class by just one level can increase the range of an electric vehicle by around three to four percent.

The new tire strategy for electric vehicles offers several benefits to tire dealers as well. Continental has not increased the complexity of its product portfolio, making storage, selection, ordering, stocking, and logistics processes simpler. This helps save valuable resources from production right through to the fitting of the tire.

In addition to the sidewall of its tires, Continental will use the EV-Compatible logo in all order systems, marketing materials, online and offline channels, and showrooms in the future.

Continental's product strategy has been successful, as nine out of the ten most successful manufacturers of electric vehicles relied on the company's technological expertise for their original equipment in 2022, including Tesla, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz. The company's portfolio now includes summer, winter, and all-season tires for almost every electric vehicle model that does not already come factory-fitted with Continental tires. Additionally, Continental offers special tire technology, including high load indices and ContiSilent, a product that significantly reduces rolling noise inside the passenger compartment, with strengths that are particularly evident in electric vehicles.
