The Pirelli Scorpion Elect traded grip and response for efficiency in Auto Motor Und Sport's 2023 comparison of electric-vehicle and UHP tires, finishing ninth of ten. It recorded the lowest energy consumption at 13.2 kWh/100km and placed third for rolling resistance. Pass-by noise was also lowest, at 71.9 dB, while the tester found ride comfort decent and dry behavior largely safe, with understeer. These were specific strengths in a single mixed-purpose comparison rather than a record across several tests.
Dry braking was last of ten, with a distance 7.3% longer than the best, and dry handling was also last. Wet braking was more competitive at sixth, only 2.9% behind the shortest stop, but wet handling and wet circle grip were both last. The tester described sluggish steering and limited wet grip with poor precision. Aquaplaning resistance was less problematic, fourth in a straight line and sixth in curves, so it was not a general weakness in every wet discipline. The overall verdict was that the efficiency gain demanded too many compromises in road performance.
