Pirelli P 7 Owner Reviews

Review this tire

What owners say summarised from 71 reviews

Owners most often value the Pirelli P 7 for tread life and dry grip, with several longer-use accounts describing substantial mileage before replacement. Steering response also earns recurring praise, while comfort is more often liked than criticised. Wet grip is divided, with a substantial favorable group but concerns from around one in five owners, including some reports of reduced confidence after use. Road noise is the most common complaint, raised by roughly a quarter of owners, although others find it quiet. There are no repeat reviewers to establish a consistent ageing pattern, so individual reports of declining grip or rising noise should not be treated as a fixed point in its life.

60, 000 miles in 2 V50's. Fronts lasted about 25000 miles. I replaced these at one stage with Uniroyal Rainsport 2. An expensive mistake, went back and bought more Pirellis after 600 miles of driving in jelly. Stick with the Pirellis

These tires were OEM on my Focus Estate and my car will be three years old in October 2010. I'm really impressed with these tires they have done 30k and are still legal (just), but equally impressive is that they still run true. No wandering or vague feelings that I've had on other tires of a similar wear. They are a tad noisy at high speed though, but that may also be attributable to my car, just the basic "1.6 Style" model. I'm about to have P7 replacements fitted next week.

Had these P7's on the car from new and managed to get 18500 miles out of them. Wheel spin pulling away on wet or damp roads was pretty bad but felt okay on the move. Road noise was quite pronounced, especially on motorways. When the tires got to around 14000 they began to tramline and the steering became a lot more fidgety. Decided to replace all four with Kumho KU135's but still early days as to this being the right choice. Time will tell.

Average grip. Very noisy tire, especially on highways. FR tire became useless at less than 13000 miles, while the other 3 tires are fine. Will never buy Pirelli again

Car is a late 2003 530D (current model). I deliberately avoided run-flats and low profile. P7's were supplied on the car. I changed the two rear tires in June 2006 after about 23000 miles. I changed all four in June 2009 at about 45,000 miles. I considered changing to Michelins, but rejected, because I am very satisfied with the P7's, and Michelins were far more expensive. I also have a 320td Compact, which has Michelins, and I found the ride comfort improved slightly after changing from Pirelli P6000's, but I felt there was no need to improve the escellent ride on the 530d

18000 miles off the fronts (2 liter diesel) which is probably acceptable. Previous car (2 liter petrol mondeo)never gave much more than 19000 off the fronts. Expected diesel to be much poorer.

Good overall grip wet and dry, car feels very neutral
Consistent wear all round would buy again if I had the money that's the one thing that is off putting ?100 a tire.

I bought a full set of these for my E32 730i to replace the cocktail of GT radial, Uniroyal Rallye 550s and Champiro tires I bought it on. There was an immediate improvement as to be expected. The car rode better and felt more surefooted in the wet and dry. I never had an aquaplaning incident on them either. When I sold the car, 6000 miles later, the fronts and rears were down to about 4mm, the wear rate seemed quite good despite the car having been hustled around b-roads and oversteered on occasion. They suit a heavy car well but cannot comment on how they perform at -3mm.

I've run these tires on a Volvo and managed to get through a lot.

The grip and handling is reassuring in both wet and dry and the noise level is acceptable.

The wear rate on them is quite bad though and I seem to be continuously replacing the fronts. My last set were highlighted as running a bit low after only 5k miles. If you take this and the price into consideration then they are not really a good deal and i'm not putting P7s on the Volvo again.

Fitted as OEM and these are the first Pirelli tires I have used (all Michelin to date). Excellent performance in both wet and dry and quiet. I was pleasantly surprised that I have achieved 60,000Km particularly when the tire wear is rated at 280.
Only negative is the cost - AUD420 each
