Performance Analysis

Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.

The Michelin Road 5 finished fifth of six in the 2020 Motorcycle Sports Touring Tire Test, with the tester favoring its light, accurate steering and easy direction changes. It inspired confidence even from cold and felt stable at lower speeds. Dry braking was fourth of six at 52.01 meters, 2.8% longer than the best result.

The reservation was stability when riding quickly, where the tester felt it became overwhelmed by the weight of the BMW. That limits the otherwise positive handling verdict to the conditions in which it felt composed. This is a single test with only one measured discipline, so it does not establish a wider pattern or a verdict on wet performance or tread life.
