Performance Analysis

Drawn from 2 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.

The Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme has strong ice results in one Tire Rack comparison and wet-handling limitations in a separate on-road test, both in 265/70 R17. In the 2026 All Terrain Tire Snow Test, a mixed truck-tire comparison, it shared 14th of 30 on the snow rating. Yet it led ice acceleration at 5.39 s and placed second for ice braking at 12.558 m, only 1.8% from best. Snow acceleration was ninth of 30, while snow braking was midfield at 15th.

In the 2024 All Terrain Tires On-Road Test, it shared eighth of 12 across on-road, off-road and rugged all-terrain categories. Dry braking was fourth at 40.84 m, 6.4% from best, and wet braking fifth, but wet handling was eighth and 11% behind. Drivers needed early braking and found grip fell away when braking and steering together. Vague on-center feel and a joint-lowest steering and road-handling score also counted against it. The notes describe comfort and noise as around midfield, despite comfort ranking third in the individual assessment. No award is recorded. The ice results are a clear positive in that field, without establishing leading snow handling or reassuring wet-road behavior.
