As the successor to the tire that invented the all-season category in 1977, the $221 Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady delivered solid dry performance and above-average wet results, but struggled significantly in snow. Keeping the Goodyear-equipped vehicle pointed straight on snow was described as "nothing short of exhausting," requiring constant countersteering to avoid unrecoverable slides. It finished last in snow braking (arguably the most important winter metric for crash avoidance), though it did manage the second-quickest time around the snowcross loop. The tire is due to be replaced by the WeatherReady 2, which wasn't available for testing but may address these winter performance deficits.

The Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady's clearest repeated weakness is dry braking. It was fifth of six measured tires in Car and Driver's 2025 all-weather test, 23.1% longer than best, and last of three in a 2024 comparison based on Michelin's internal testing, 14.9% longer. The latter is a manufacturer-run comparison rather than a second independent publication test. Michelin's comparison also placed it last for worn wet braking, 39% longer than best. Overall positions were fourth of five in Car and Driver and third of three in the manufacturer comparison.

Car and Driver's positive assessment of dry performance and above-average wet results sits alongside more mixed measurements. Wet braking and handling were fourth of six, but the wet circle was second, making cornering grip a relative positive rather than a broad stopping advantage. Snow was more problematic: braking was last of six, 15.7% longer than best, and the testers described frequent countersteering to keep the car straight. That difficulty matters alongside a third-of-six measured snow handling result and the write-up's favorable account of its snowcross pace. The faster lap did not establish predictable snow behavior, and the stopping results leave substantial qualifications to year-round use.
