The General Grabber Arctic led the snow and ice measurements in Tire Reviews' 2020 HT vs AT vs MT vs Winter Tires on Snow comparison. It was the full winter tire in a mixed group of five, so this was a comparison of tire types rather than a test against four winter rivals. In 265/70 R17 it recorded an 18.2 m snow stop, a 6.5 s traction result and an 84.96 s handling lap, each ahead of the other types. Ice braking was also shortest at 14.4 m. The testers highlighted balanced traction, braking and cornering forces that made the snow lap confidence-inspiring.
Subjective snow handling and comfort both received ten points, with comfort another stated strength. Noise scored nine points and was slightly higher than the highway tire, a modest qualification within this group rather than evidence of generally poor refinement. The strong results establish a clear advantage on the snow and ice tested over these particular highway, all-terrain and mud-terrain alternatives. They do not establish a ranking against other Nordic winter tires, nor say how it handles wet or dry tarmac, aquaplaning or long-term wear, none of which was assessed here.
