2026 Al Volante Winter Tire Test P6 of 6

The Dynamo Winter Sport finished last overall, well adrift of the other five. Its individual results are a mix of genuine highs and clear lows: it stops well in the dry and resists aquaplaning better than most, but it does not inspire confidence in the driving tests on any surface. Al Volante's verdict is that, for the money, it did not do badly, but the established brands are more relaxing and reassuring to drive.

Strong: Dry Braking, Straight Aqua, Curved Aquaplaning, Noise Weak: Wet Braking, Wet Handling, Snow Braking, Snow Handling, Rolling Resistance Winner: Pirelli Scorpion Winter 3

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.

The Dynamo Winter Sport finished last of six in the 2026 Al Volante Winter Tire Test in 235/60 R18, despite leading dry braking and straight-line aquaplaning. Dry braking was 1st at 39.2 m, while curved aquaplaning was 2nd, 4% behind the best. Snow traction ranked 3rd, 4% behind. Al Volante described it as a budget outsider in a field otherwise drawn from established brands, and acknowledged those individual strengths. Noise was another positive: the testers found it quietest at town speed, while the listed noise measurement ranked 2nd of six.

Handling and wet stopping performance explain the low overall result. Wet braking was last, 8.2% behind the best, wet handling last, 5.8% behind, and snow handling last, 6.4% behind. The testers described frequent straight-line corrections and early, abrupt grip loss during steering or lift-off, with frequent ABS and stability-control intervention in the wet. Rolling resistance was also last, 23.2% behind the best, despite measuring better than its label suggested. The verdict was that the other tires were more reassuring to drive. This single test supports a clear distinction between dry stopping and aquaplaning strengths and weak, unpredictable handling, rather than balanced winter ability.
